According to The Hollywood Reporter, the 15th annual Hollywood Film Festival and Hollywood Film Awards will honor Christopher Plummer with a Supporting Actor Award. Joseph Gordon-Levitt will get a Breakthrough Actor Award, while Jessica Chastain is the Breakthrough Actress. Felicity Jones will get the New Hollywood Award for Like Crazy.
If anything, Plummer’s award is a reminder to Academy voters for his supporting work in Beginners. With six performances this year Jessica Chastain could have an outside shot for a supporting actress nod, while Joseph Gordon-Levitt is a long shot for 50/50.
These four honorees join the cast of The Help for the Hollywood Ensemble Award; Rango for the Hollywood Animation Award; Emmanuel Lubezki (Tree of Life) for the Hollywood Cinematographer Award; Stephen Mirrione (The Ides of March) with the Hollywood Editor Award; James Murakami (J. Edgar) for the Hollywood Production Designer Award; and Scott Farrar (Transformers: Dark of the Moon) for the Hollywood Visual Effects Award.
Carlos de Abreu, the Founder and Executive Director of the festival and awards show, will announce the remaining honorees in the coming weeks.
The awards ceremony takes place at the Beverly Hilton Hotel in Beverly Hills on October 24, 2011.
