It seems fitting that Kiefer Sutherland’s return to network television is in a series that involves a long season arc. After all, it was his show, 24, that spawned countless imitators, some of which were cancelled or couldn’t progress pass a single year.

His new series, Touch, will have its premiere in spring 2012, but the first trailer of this science-meets-spirituality drama has been unveiled. Tim Kring (creator of Crossing Jordan, Heroes) returns to familiar territory with the premise that everything in the universe is interconnected. Sutherland plays a widower whose mute 11-year-old son, Jacob (newcomer David Mazouz) possesses the ability to detect patterns that connect seemingly unrelated events.

Danny Glover and Gugu Mbatha-Raw (of NBC’s short-lived Undercovers) round out the main cast.

Once it premieres in the spring it will occupy the 9 P.M. slot which was the same slot used for 24.
