Kurt Russell Out, Don Johnson in For Quentin Tarantino’s Django Unchained

Casting News, News, Top Story

It was once thought that Kurt Russell would be joining Quentin Tarantino’s Django Unchained. That was wrong because now it appears QT has settled on another ’80s icon: Don Johnson. That’s per Variety.

Johnson will be playing a role that originally was slated to have Kevin Costner in it. He’ll be stepping into the role of Ace, a man who oversees the plantation in a ruthless manner and also relishes punishing slaves.

What does this mean? QT is on a roll and Johnson is an even more inspired choice than Costner and Russell. Johnson hasn’t worked with Tarantino before and has had a series of solid, smaller parts in comedies as of late. It’ll be interesting to see what he can do in the role, especially considering the sheer quality of the cast. His resume is a bit light in comparison.
