There have been rumblings since San Diego that the Scarlet Spider was due for a return. There was the burning hoodie teaser, the Spider attacking the guy in the Daredevil mask in the Point One teaser, hell, Kaine was healed to being a perfect Spider-Clone in Amazing Spider-Man just a few days ago! Marvel is pushing this hard, but this image from Ryan Stegman shown in the preview art for their Spider-Man panel may just be the most telling.
I don’t know about you, but this looks like someone I’d call the Scarlet Spider. Sure, it lacks the hoodie, but there’s a reason we saw it on fire in the teaser.

Wow, awesome. Seriously no more than ten minutes after I posted that I started reading the panel itself. There will be a new Scarlet Spider ongoing series by writer Chris Yost and artist Ryan Stegman launching in January!
He’s being promoted as being in the middle of the extremes of Spider-Man and Venom, and he’ll be traveling the country.
They aren’t saying his name, but I’d put money on him being Kaine.
