Anne Hathaway Joins Russell Crowe, Hugh Jackman, in Tom Hooper’s Les Miserables

Casting News, News

She will be most likely known for being Catwoman in next summer’s The Dark Knight Rises, but now she’ll be joining Hugh Jackman and Russell Crowe in Les Miserables. She’ll be playing Fantine, the tragically abused mother of young Cosette.

What does this mean? Hathaway is definitely a star on the rise, managing to survive a disaster that was this year’s Oscar hosting duties without any serious career harm, and has shown that she has some singing chops in the past. With a pair of stars already in Crowe and Jackman, the new cinematic version of Les Miserables could be the final piece that turns her from burgeoning star to permanent A-lister. You would have to think that with the probable success of TDKR and this film’s potential success that she could end the year with box office cred from Christopher Nolan’s film and a strong case for some more hardware come prestige season.

What do you think? Is this a good move for Hathaway? Or is Les Miserables the wrong film for her? Let us know below!
