/Film is reporting that Warner Bros. plans to attach a six-minute prologue to The Dark Knight Rises to all IMAX prints of the fourth Mission: Impossible release.
/Film’s trusted source remains nameless but is noted as being a “trusted theater (a.k.a. exhibitor) source.”
What’s interesting is that when Warner Bros. employed a similar strategy for The Dark Knight, its opening scene appeared in front of IMAX showings of I Am Legend (a WB release) back in Dec. 2007. Now, for Christopher Nolan’s finale to to his Batman trilogy, the studio is looking to team up with Paramount Pictures who is distributing Brad Bird’s Mission: Impossible – Ghost Protocol. Considering that M:I 4 is the big IMAX release of the holiday season, and knowing that Sherlock Holmes: A Game of Shadows (WB’s big December release) won’t play on IMAX screens, it does make sense.
If that’s indeed the case, then we could very well expect a new theatrical trailer to be attached to Holmes.
