Deadline Hollywood is reporting that Quentin Tarantino has finally settled on an actress for Django’s wife in Django Unchained, his spaghetti western: Kerry Washington.

Washington is set to star as Broomhilda, the wife of Django (Jamie Foxx) for whom he ventures out to find with a German bounty hunter (Christoph Waltz). Washington is best known for a handful of roles, including as Alicia Masters in the Fantastic Four film, as Della Bea Robinson in Ray and as Nikki Tru in Chris Rock’s I Think I Love My Wife.

Washington joins Don Johnson, Foxx, Leonardo DiCaprio, Samuel L Jackson and Chrisoph Waltz for the film, eyeing a 2012 release.

What does this mean? QT has said in the past he wanted an unknown but Deadline is reporting that she was the choice all along, apparently. Washington is a fine actress and has been good in the small parts of great films she’s been in; it’ll be interesting to see how good of a performacne Tarantino gets out of her since the only woman he’s really been able to get a great performance out of has been Uma Thurman.
