Psych – Episode 6-3 Review – “This Episode Sucks”

Reviews, Shows

With Halloween less than a week away, Psych once again delivers a top notch holiday themed episode. Special guest stars abound as Shawn Spencer, Burton Guster and the rest of the Psych crew try to solve the case of a body who has been drained of its blood.

That same night Lassiter shares a connection with a beautiful and mysterious woman in a bar close to the crime scene but Lassiter’s dangerous love affair is put into question when Shawn, Gus and Jules all begin to believe she may be involved in the murder.

Original Buffy The Vampire Slayer, Kristy Swanson, guest stars along with Buffy series regular Tom Lenk (Andrew, anyone?) but its Edgar Frog himself (Corey Feldman) that chews up the scenery in what adds up to a hilarious but sadly only extended cameo.

Embracing their inner vampire, and no girlie twilight vamps here either! Shawn and Gus, or should I say, Lestat and Blackula (or is it Count Chocula?) infiltrate an underground vampire bar in order to investigate.

This episode, despite the stunt casting and standard Psych formula prove once again that if it isn’t broke then don’t try to fix it.

Directed and co-written by James Roday (Shawn Spencer), THIS EPISODE SUCKS showcases not only the brilliant comedic timing of the actors but the true grasp Roday has on the characters.

Dule Hill offers up another truly memorable performance that will have you believing “Sookie, is his!” and we can only hope that some time down the road this translates to some unexpected True Blood cameos and come on, how epic would it be to see Shawn and Gus sitting quietly at a table in Fangtasia!
