Miami Dolphins vs NY Giants: NFL Week 8 Team Outlooks

Dolphins 17 – Giants 20

Rhett Davis likes the Giants chances  : “ Who would’ve thought that two defeated teams would’ve come out of the woodwork to take leads at the start of their games?  Miami is a lot like the Jaguars in a sense that they are terrible this year.  The Giants had to score a few TDs late in the game to overcome the Dolphins, but there wasn’t ever much doubt in who the victor would be.  The Giants are looking strong and may even win their division as the Cowboys continue to choke, the Eagles have a huge deficit to overcome, and the Redskins aren’t doing too well.  The Dolphins should just hope to ‘suck for Luck’ and get a good QB in the draft.”

Daniels says Giants got a name they needed, but speculate on Miami: “The Giants desperately needed this game before going in to the brutal part of their schedule.  They needed to be at least 5-2 to have a shot at this division.  Now they get to play the Patriots, Niners, Saints, and Eagles in November.  Strap in, y’all, it’s gonna be bumpy.  Also, we can all agree that Luck is probably going to the Dolphins, right?  Like even if they get the second pick, they’re trading up, right? — Unless Manning’s career is just over.”

My Take: Okay, I obviously can’t prove it, but the Dolphins are so just throwing games at this point.  Every week they get a big lead and collapse.  They aren’t this bad – they have the same personnel as last year and were pretty decent then.  They’re clearly sucking for Luck, but, well that doesn’t mean they will give up everything to get him if they don’t get #1.  This is a team with a ton of holes, and trading a whole draft doesn’t make them any better, especially given 3 of the top 5 picks project to be QBs.  Remember, Aaron Rodgers sure didn’t go first, nor did Tom Brady.  Though, after over a decade of nothing and less at QB, maybe the Dolphins do go all the way for the sure thing if they have pick #2.  I just urge people to remember how highly touted Reggie Bush was…  The Giants are hitting the tough part of their schedule, but play better against good teams.  No one looks dominant in this division and with the exception of the collapsing Redskins, anyone can still end up winning the division.  The Giants control their own fate, but with a brutal schedule and a history of second half collapses…
