Weeds News: Showtime Greenlights 13 New Weeds Episodes In 2012

News, Press Releases

LOS ANGELES, CA – (November 10, 2011) – SHOWTIME is packing another hit of its highest-rated comedy series Weeds, picking up an eighth season. Thirteen new episodes will go into production in 2012.

Kenji must have the munchies again and be out of cash because I can’t for the life of me think of a reason to bring Weeds back again. Sure, Nancy Botwin has a stellar looking pooper but that’s not going to slow down the inevitable train wreck that is Weeds Season 8.

Nobody liked the ending of season 7… Did Nancy go out like Tony Soprano? Who cares! This show lost its glory for me when they moved out of Agrestic. The show itself was a basic fish out of water story that had suburban housewife Nancy Botwin selling drugs to support her family after the death of her husband. I can relate to that. I’m not a housewife but I get it. Nancy built the home and when the husband died she was pushed into something profitable and easy(ish). Moving from Agrestic and making her diabolical and unbeatable totally loses what made Weeds a great show. Losing Conrad and his crew, Celia and her fat little lesbian daughter, and everything that made the show work is a little like trying to fit a square peg into a round hole.

Good luck Nancy, your going to need it! Look for new episodes of Weeds in 2012… or in the $5.00 bin at Walmart in 2013.
