Andrew Kevin Walker and David Fincher to reunite on Jule Verne adaptation.
The last time they worked together they made us fear “what was inside the box.” Now, sixteen years later, they may make us scared of going far below the sea. David Fincher, who this Christmas sees the release of The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo, is plotting a new big-screen adaptation of Jules Verne’s 20,000 Leagues Under the Sea. Disney has been racking their brains at how to update Captain Nemo and his Nautilus warship. Their first live-action picture was released in 1954. One has to wonder, though, how dark Fincher and Andrew Kevin Walker will go with the material. If you recall, Samuel L. Jackson was mighty shaken by the Verne passages in the poor film adaptation of Michael Crichton’s Sphere. Besides, The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo, Fincher is also attached to helming Cleopatra with Angelina Jolie at Sony.
