Disc News: Roger Corman’s Nurses Collection Heals In April

Disc Announcements, News

Roger Corman learned quite a bit about distribution from American International Pictures. The most important lesson was success came best when you worked a genre instead of merely promoting a single film. Independent theater owners liked how AIP would cycle through teen monsters, Poe and Beach Party films. When Corman formed New World, his early productions included Student Nurses. The low budget film dealt with the tales of newbie Florence Nightingales. The movie proved a hit with its mix of drama, medicine and nudity. Corman ended up making four additional Nurse themed films to capture an audience that wanted to know what lurked inside sensible shoes. Roger Corman’s Cult Classics: The Nurses Collection brings together the sequels of The Student Nurses on April 17, 2012. Candy Stripe Nurses, Private Duty Nurses, Night Call Nurses and Young Nurses shall come when you press play on your DVD remote. Why isn’t Student Nurses in the collection? Student Nurses will be teamed with The Student Teachers and Summer School Teachers for a Corman Academics boxset. Here’s Shout! Factory’s current artwork for The Nurses Collection.
