Pulse Wrestling’s Live WWE Monday Night Raw Coverage: 3 Hour Slammy Awards + Winners

Shows, Top Story

WWE is LIVE with a 3 hour Raw tonight to celebrate the SLAMMY awards. Join me for full coverage!

We kick things off with the Slammy’s and the first award.

Tell Me I Did NOT Just See That Slammy
Presented by: Booker T, Hornswoggle

Nominees:

  • Santino
  • Jim Ross
  • R Truth
  • The Miz (As Rock)
  • Winner: Jim Ross

Jim Ross came out with 2 divas to accept the award, and was interrupted by Michael Cole. Booker T set up a dance contest between Ross and Cole for the Slammy. Cole and Ross both did raps and dances, and the crowd was clearly on the side of Ross. Booker T comes into the ring after the contest with Ross. He thinks the people want to see a J-R-oonie (as opposed to a Spinaroonie)

NOW TRENDING: JIM ROSS AND HORNSWOGGLE

Booker T gets JR to do a JR-roonie, very weakly, to a nice pop from the audience. Gotta hand it to WWE, Ross was showing real ratings power so they have now twice recently put him in the opening hour/segment of a three-hour Raw, sure to be the lowest rated quarters of the show.

    Mick Foley is WALKING

    Commercial Break

Holy $*^@& Moment Of The Year 2011
Presented by: Mick Foley, Million Dollar Man Ted Dibiase Sr.

    Nominees:

  • Sheamus
  • Randy Orton
  • Big Show & Mark Henry
  • Evan Bourne
  • Winner: Big Show

Cute spot with Dibiase stealing Foley’s cheap pop. Big Show comes out to accept and cuts a promo about collapsing the ring. Wouldn’t his Slammy look good with the World Title he ponders? Not really, Show. This leads into Wade Barrett coming out for a presumptive match.

    Commercial Break

Wade Barrett vs. The Big Show
Match was barely anything, Barrett came in with a chair, DQ city. After the match Show runs him off. Play his music!
    Winner: Big Show via DQ

Later tonight, Cena vs. Mark Henry!

    Commercial Break

OH YOU DIDNT KNOW? Road Dogg is back on Raw! He comes out and looks pretty good, has a DX shirt on and cuts a nice promo in his style.

  • CM Punk/Steve Austin
  • Miz/Truth/Christian
  • Truth/Hunter

  • it’s unclear who’s a nominee here, its really just a montage
  • Winner: CM Punk

Punk comes out with a mannequin. After a promo, he gives a brief video tribute to John Laurinaitis, set to “The Touch”. WCW FOOTAGE ALERT – Johnny Ace actin’ a fool.

    Commercial Break

    Presented by: Lita!

    Nominees:

  • Natalya
  • Kelly Kelly
  • Kharma
  • Beth Phoenix
  • Winner: Kelly Kelly

Lita looked great and got a nice pop. They even plugged her twitter. Kelly Kelly came out in an elegant dress. She says “Oh My God you guys!” then Beth and Natalya come out. Beth tries to steal the Slammy but Kelly slaps her. Play Kelly’s music!

    OMG Moment of 2011
Presented by: Santino & The Bella Twins

  • HHH Tombstones Undertaker
  • Rock Bottom on Cena
  • Superstars Walk Out on HHH
  • Punk Wins WWE Title at Money in the Bank
  • Winner: HHH Tombstones Undertaker

Strange considering HHH lost that match. HHH comes out with a sledgehammer, dressed in jeans in a leather jacket. You see he’s no longer ass-kickin corporate suit HHH, he’s now back to THE GAME. He spits water. Cuts a promo that allows me to get iced tea. He’s gonna kick Nash’s ass because “might makes right”. Cue the anti-bullying promo! He walks to the stage, scares Santino the back as he tries to hand him the Slammy, then poses more.

    Commercial Break

    Trending Star of the Year
Presented by: David Otunga & Tony Atlas

    Nominees:

  • Cody Rhodes
  • Daniel Bryan
  • Dolph Ziggler
  • Zack Ryder
  • Winner: Zack Ryder

Tony Atlas went with the ECW-era laughing gimmick to laugh at how lame Otunga is. Has to be Ryder. What a crazy montage of non-stop mentions of Twitter in promos and commentary. No promo for Ryder, right into a match!

Zack Ryder vs. Cody Rhodes vs. Daniel Bryan vs. Dolph Ziggler
Oh i see, the match will somehow determine the winner based on who is trending tonight. Interesting.

    Commercial Break

Back and action is in progress. Ryder controls and leads the crowd in a loud WOO WOO WOO. Ongoing action. Match went through another Commercial Break.

Great spot near the end of the match with both heels superplexing the faces. Really strong performance by all four guys.
    Winner: Ziggler

After the match, Lawler announces that Zack Ryder won the Slammy, which got a big pop, then Ziggler attacked him.

    Commercial Break

    Game Changer of the Year
    Presented by: Christian

    Nominees:

  • HHH & McMahon
  • Edge
  • Kevin Nash
  • Alberto Del Rio
  • The Rock & John Cena
  • Winner: The Rock & John Cena

Christian presents himself with the “Courageous Man of the Year” award for even coming tonight with his injuries. Cena comes out to accept and his music is greeted with loud boos. He cuts a brief promo then does a boisterous intro for Dwayne “the Rock” Johnson – who’s music does not play. Then someone “informs” Cena that he isn’t here. He says this is when The Rock sends satelite messages and introduces it on the big screen. Then he’s informed Rock didn’t send a clip. Then talks about the REAL game changing moment is Wrestlemania 28.

    Commercial Break

CM Punk & Randy Orton vs. Alberto Del Rio & The Miz
All of these guys are candidates for Wrestler of the Year in tonight’s fan-voted Slammy’s. Second long match of the night, with good main event level work all around. Seemed like Punk and Miz worked the majority of the match. Went through a commercial. Finish came when Miz and Punk were in the ring, Del Rio distracted the ref, and Wade Barrett took out Randy Orton on the other side. This left Punk alone with Miz and Del Rio, and he fought them off but ultimately Miz got the Skull Crushing Finale for the pin.
    Winners: Miz & Del Rio

After the match, Del Rio and Miz beat down Punk with a ladder from ringside, to preview the three way WWE Title ladder match.

    Commercial Break

WWE Network promo (same as last week)

    Nominees:

  • Hugh Jackman
  • Cee-Lo Green
  • The Muppets
  • Snooki
  • Winner: Snooki

Goldust did some comedy with Vickie that died with the live crowd. Snooki sent in a thank you video. She plugged Jersey Shore’s new season in January and endorsed Zack Ryder “her fellow guido” at TLC, closing with Woo Woo Woo, You Know It.

Josh Matthews interviews Mark Henry backstage. He isn’t in a good mood and plans on inducting Cena into the Hall of Pain later tonight in the main event.

    Commercial Break

    Sheamus vs. Jinder Mahal
Before the match begins, Sheamus gives Mahal the big boot and there is no match. Play Sheamus’s music!
    No Match

    Superstar of the Year 2011
    Presented by: Rey Mysterio

    Nominees:

  • Randy Orton
  • The Miz
  • CM Punk
  • Alberto Del Rio
  • Mark Henry
  • John Cena
  • Winner: CM Punk

Rey comes out to a big pop, as he’s been off TV for a few months. He announces Punk as the winner, his second Slammy of the night. Instead, John Laurinaitis comes out instead. He notes that due to the earlier match/attack, Punk is in no condition to accept the award on his behalf.

Mark Henry is WALKING while GRUNTING

Wacky black and white vignette with kids in a school in a creepy manner.

    Commercial Break

    Mark Henry vs. John Cena
    Intros

They actually go to commercial at 11:00!

We’re back and Cena and Henry are going TOE TO TOE. Towards the end, Cena went for an Attitude Adjustment but his back gave out and Henry squashed him with a slam. However suddenly the lights went out and KANE made his WWE return. He had a helmet on and new mostly black costume. When the lights came back on, Henry fled but Cena remained in the ring, and Kane chokeslammed him. Kane removed the helmet to reveal a new style Kane mask, all red with the mouth showing. He had SCARING(tm) under the mask on his eye area. Show ended with the camera closeup on Kane’s face.
