DC Comics Relaunch: Introducing Superman’s New Enemy….Helspont!
by Grey Scherl on December 13, 2011

With Grifter and Voodoo getting their own ongoings for the DC Relaunch, and the threat of Daemonites on Earth going strong, it was really just a matter of time before some of the more well known Wildstorm characters started to pop up. We still don’t have the WildC.A.T.S….but we do have their arch-enemy.

The start of an insanely epic arc from the new writing team of Keith Giffen and Dan Jurgens! New love interests, new roommates, and a new foe: the wicked Helspont! What does this monster want with Superman, and how does it all connect to the Daemonites?

Helspont vs Superman? Talk about fights I never thought I’d see outside of an easily forgotten crossover! What role does the Man of Steel play in the plans of the invading Daemonites? And where are the Kherubim’s? I’ll tell you what I do know, matching Helspont up against Superman is a great way to say “this character matters”.

i have this great idea that after a year of issues is out there is a company wide cross over, where they find out the deamonites have invaded but its worse! they have secretly been replacing known heroes and pretending to look like them. So the heroes have no idea who to trust! it could be epic!

    Wasn’t that called Secret Invasion?

Honestly, if they do a year or so of build up and it all pays off with the WildC.A.T.S. teaming up with the JLA to fight a Daemonite invasion, and then the C.A.T.S. get an ongoing series out of it by a top tier creative team, then it’ll all be worth it.

The problem with Secret Invasion was that they promised big names replaced by Skrulls and that nothing would ever be the same, and then it just completely fell apart because nobody wanted to give up their characters to be Skrulls. When Hank Pym and Spider-Woman are your biggest names, you’re doing something wrong.
