IDW / Hasbro’s New Cobra Commander Takes Charge in January 2012 – Big Changes For G.I. Joe!

Following the crowning of a New Cobra Commander at the culmination of the entertaining Cobra Civil War storyline, comes IDW’s newest G.I. Joe / Cobra arc.

Starting in January 2012, a new storyline called “Cobra Command” follows the conclusion of the Cobra Civil War. It will last nine issues across the three concurrent G.I. Joe series (G.I. Joe, Snake Eyes and Cobra). It will look at the fallout of the Civil War including answering questions like:

  • What becomes of the unsuccessful Cobra Commander candidates?
  • What is the Cobra organization’s raison d’etre under a new Commander?
  • Who really is the new Cobra Commander?
  • What is the new status quo for G.I. Joe?

    “Cobra Command,” Part One! The Cobra Civil War is over but there’s no risk of a peace outbreak. A nine-issue epic starts right here! The new Cobra Commander kicks off his reign with total war as he invades a sovereign nation with all the military might under his power. The world is outraged but uncertain of how to retaliate. So the Joes take to the field to battle a new, more dangerous version of their oldest foe.

    “Cobra Command,” Part Two! Snake Eyes travels halfway around the world with his team to stop the invasion of a sovereign nation under attack by Cobra. But the Joes’ silent warrior may be on a mission all his own. Snake Eyes is haunted by his past and Storm Shadow is at the heart of it. Snake Eyes carves himself his own bloody corner in a war of annihilation!

    “Cobra Command,” Part Three! While certain Cobra agents quietly plot their vengeance, others align themselves with the new Commander… but he may have more in store for Cobra than just a military coup.

February 2012

    COBRA ON THE ATTACK! The new COBRA COMMANDER begins a global strategy to turn the super-secret cabal into a legitimate world power. The Joes and UN Forces are outmaneuvered and outgunned in a war of total annihilation!

Will the Joes stand or run? You already know the answer to that one, don’t you?

    The Commander demands satisfaction! COBRA’s war on a helpless sovereign nation roars toward its conclusion. The Joes are in jeopardy at a border crossing against a squadron of B.A.T.s. Storm Shadow offers Snake Eyes a devil’s deal; the key to the heart of COBRA. Will the most dangerous Joe accept?
