Joel Edgerton Confirmed For Kathryn Bigelow’s Kill Bin Laden; Jessica Chastain & Mark Strong Also Added

Casting News, News

It was last May when we told you that Sony Pictures was interested in Kathryn Bigelow’s Seal Team 6/Kill Bin Laden feature. At the time Joel Edgerton was the favorite to star. He has now been confirmed, according to Variety.

To go along with Edgerton’s casting is news from Deadline that the project has added Jessica Chastain, Edgar Ramirez and Mark Strong to the cast.

Production will begin in February to make its December release date.

The film, penned by The Hurt Locker scribe Mark Boal, was going to be about the search for Osama Bin Laden in the Tora Bora mountains in 2001, but the script was changed once he was killed by the Navy SEALs of Team 6. Rather than ramp into production right away, both Bigelow and Boal reassessed the situation, gathered more information on the mission and made sure the script was sound before cameras rolled.

Kathryn Bigelow’s still untitled film will hit theaters on December 19th.
