2012 Best TV Show Madness Bracket Tournament – Second Round Voting Continues with Top Seeds Burn Notice, Modern Family, Breaking Bad, Community, New Girl, Survivor, Dexter, Big Bang Theory and More!

Features, Shows, Top Story

The first round voting has ended and there were no real upsets. A couple of close calls for some of the top 32 seeds, but in the end, all of them are still in tact. There were lots of closer matchups between non-seeded shows, though. Lets break down the first round action.

The ABC featured pretty much all blowouts, except for three matchups that came down to less than 3 votes each. Hawaii Five-0 and Celebrity Apprentice each won by just 1 vote over American Dad and Being Human respectively. The Big Bang Theory had the largest margin of victory from this region as it beat The Glades with 94% of the vote.

The FOX Region only had a few of matchups that were close. Curb Your Enthusiasm and Pretty Little Liars had the most slim margin of victory. The one surprise was that the #2 seed New Girl had a harder than expected time with The Mentalist. It was closer than many would thought going into it. There were a couple of blowouts, including The Voice with 91% over 90210 and Modern Family over Treme with 89%. The rest of the winners won around an average of 65%, which is a comfortable margin for sure.

The CBS Region was closer than any other region. The highest margin of victory was only 87% which belonged to Revenge over Intervention. Some of the more closer matchups were Dancing with the Stars/Gossip Girl, The Vampire Diaries/Luck, Damages/Big Brother, and Criminal Minds/Pawn Stars. Each of those only won by 2 or 3 or 4 votes. But the closest matchup could have been our first upset of the tournament with #6 seed Glee only won by 1 vote over Person of Interest.

The NBC Region had only a couple blowouts, mainly Burn Notice with 91% over Drop Dead Diva. Most of the winners here won by a comfortable margin. But Mike & Molly won by a single vote over The Soup. Top Chef made a big comeback to beat Private Practice by two votes. NCIS also barely got by It’s Always Sunny in Philadelphia. Also, in the battle of the “Pay Networks” the well-established Weeds from SHOWTIME defeated the newer Boardwalk Empire from HBO

So only a few surprises in the first round, but now things could get interesting. The second round voting has begun. We have 64 shows left, so go vote and remember to tell everyone you know to vote too!

Each of these polls will stay open for one week. Next week the next round begins and we will continue until the final show is crowed as the best some time around the middle of April. Remember to tell all of your friends to vote as well!

I'm not embarrassed to say that my favorite television show of all-time is The O.C. I live by the motto "you can't fight fate!" More importantly, I watch WAY too much television, but I do so for the benefit of everyone reading this now. So to my mom and my wife, I say thanks for reading! To everyone else that might stumble across this, remember TiVo should be your best friend!
