The Avengers To Have Its World Premiere April 11th; Nolan Shows The Dark Knight Rises to Warner Execs

News, Projects

If you live around Hollywood’s El Capitan Theatre, I envy you. The reason is because Marvel Studios will have the world premiere of The Avengers on April 11th inside the historic movie palace. That’s nearly an entire month before it arrives in theaters on May 4th. You may recall that the second trailer for the highly anticipated movie had a record number of iTunes downloads (a reported 12.5 million overall).

In other comic book movie news, Christopher Nolan showed the first cut of The Dark Knight Rises to the suits at Warner Bros. this Friday. With four months to go until the film’s release in July, Nolan screened the film, which had been shooting all over the globe in India and the UK, as well as Los Angeles, New York, New Jersey and Pittsburgh. The screening was more of a look-see as he will be fine-tuning the sequel to his $1 billion hit, The Dark Knight, in the editing room with Lee Smith. According to The Hollywood Reporter, among those in attendance were Warners film chief Jeff Robinov and production president Greg Silverman.

The Dark Knight Rises, the last installment in Nolan’s Batman trilogy, sees the return of Christian Bale, Morgan Freeman and Gary Oldman, plus adds Oscar winner Marion Cotillard, Oscar nominee Anne Hathaway, Joseph Gordon-Levitt, and Tom Hardy as Bane.

Batman will rise on July 20th.
