Tom Cruise’s One Shot Pushed Back, And Obilvion To Open Before The Start Of Summer 2013

News, Projects

With the success of Ghost Protocol and the upcoming summertime release of Rock of Ages, studios are angling to get the most out of Tom Cruise’s star power. His upcoming adaptation of the Lee Child thriller One Shot was once rumored to open sometime this Spring. However, Paramount Pictures, seeing how well Ghost Protocol performed during 2011’s holiday season, has positioned the film to bow on December 21, 2012 instead. Such a decision puts it in a box office hotspot opening alongside Ang Lee’s Life of Pi, Judd Apatow’s Knocked Off spin-off This Is Forty and Kathryn Bigelow’s Seal Team Six pic Zero Dark Thirty.

Also, there’s movement on Tom Cruise’s picture for Universal, Oblivion. Helmed by Tron: Legacy‘s Joseph Kosinski, the science-fiction actioneer has been pushed up from its July 10, 2013 release and will now open on April 26, 2013.
