Two Matches Set for WWE Over The Limit PPV — Who Will CM Punk and John Cena Face?

News, Top Story

As part of tonight’s episode of Monday Night Raw, WWE has set the first two matches for the Over The Limit PPV airing Sunday, May 20th. First, former World Heavyweight Champion Daniel Bryan beat Jerry Lawler in the fastest time of the night to win a Beat The Clock challenge that notched him a WWE Championship match with CM Punk at OTL. Meanwhile, John Laurinaitis simply snapped on John Cena at the end of Raw (with help from Lord Tensai), telling Cena that it will be Johnny vs. John in three weeks at Over The Limit after further injuring Cena’s busted up arm just one night after Brock Lesnar brutalized Cena at Extreme Rules.

Therefore, the current early card for Over The Limit is as follows thus far:

–WWE Championship: CM Punk (c) vs. Daniel Bryan

–John Cena vs. John Laurinaitis

CB’s Slant: LOVE Punk-Bryan (obviously), but what happened to Cena taking significant time off? Is that second match really necessary? And, even more importantly, will it translate into any additional PPV buys having Cena vs. Ace on the card? I guess we’ll find out soon enough…
