CB’s World: Five Guys Who Can Save Johnny Ace from John Cena at WWE Over the Limit PPV

Columns, PPVs, Top Story

Tonight, WWE goes OVER THE LIMIT and the featured “storyline match” pits John Cena vs. John Laurinaitis in a high-stakes showdown with Big Johnny Ace’s career on the line. That’s right, if Cena beats Ace tonight, Mr. Laurinaitis will be effectively future endeavored.

Of course, we all know this won’t be the case as this storyline still has a lot of juice left in the tank, at least in WWE’s eyes. Therefore, I present to you:

Five Guys Who Can Save Johnny Ace from John Cena and the Unemployment Line at Over the Limit

Remember the stipulation, any WWE superstar who interferes in the match will be fired immediately by the Board of Directors…

1. The Big Show: Now that the Big Show has been fired, he is the perfect candidate to interfere on Johnny Ace’s behalf to save Johnny’s job and get back in Laurinaitis’ good graces moving forward. After all, Show can only cry so much, right?

Show can disrupt the match at Eve’s behest, enable Laurinaitis to get the pin and subsequently get rehired by Johnny the next night on Raw. From there, Show can either be reprogrammed as Ace’s muscle and say that he did this for himself after blaming the fans for his firing, saying he catered to them these last few years and it got him nowhere. Otherwise, Show can reluctantly go along with this plan and play a similar role of the humiliated unwilling employee that Teddy Long has been playing. I’d prefer the former.

2. Brock Lesnar: Brock Lesnar is another perfect candidate to come in at Over the Limit and cost Cena the match. Lesnar already has the motivation to want to embarrass Cena and this would serve as a good continuation of their storyline should they want to revisit it.

Also, since Brock already quit through Paul Heyman, he also isn’t an employee anymore and wouldn’t suffer any repercussions in the storyline. The other option would be for Lesnar to interfere here and then disappear for a long time, not popping back up until SummerSlam in August to save some of those limited appearance dates for later in the year.

3. Lord Tensai: Lord Tensai strikes me as a character who doesn’t always play by the rules so even though he’s still a WWE employee, Tensai could still decide to make an impact at Over the Limit tonight.

The simple follow-up here would be that Tensai gets fired by WWE for his actions and then gets hired by John Laurinaitis to serve as Big Johnny’s personal / private enforcer. That was the rumored storyline before Tensai debuted, so they could bring that to fruition here.

4. Kevin Nash: Kevin Nash hasn’t been around for awhile, but unlike The Wall he is still alive and any wrestler who is breathing is always game for one more moment in the sun. In this case, Laurinaitis could text Nash to “stick Cena” during this match, and again since Nash isn’t a regular superstar he can afford to get involved. He has a history of doing so, after all:

This would also play into Nash sticking it to WWE management — including Triple H — one last time just for the hell of it. As for Nash’s reward, Johnny can find a loophole and give Big Daddy Cool a “legends contract” in the storyline, or simply pay him a ton of cash for saving Johnny’s job at Over the Limit.

5. Mr. McMahon: Who better to rebel against the board of directors and stir things up than the Chairman himself, Mr. McMahon. After all, it was the board of directors who removed Vince from his duties on Raw all those storylines ago, and Vince was the guy who delivered the news to Triple H that Johnny Ace was going to be Hunter’s replacement as the then-Interim GM of Raw:

Therefore, could it be that Vince and Johnny were in on this all along? After all, someone had to be pulling the strings, right? Just a thought.

That’s all from me — enjoy OVER THE LIMIT — CB.
