10 Thoughts on WWE Monday Night Raw – 5.28.2012 – The Show Unleashed!, Bryan vs Punk, Ziggler Gone Solo?

Reviews, Shows, Top Story, TV Shows

Welcome to my 10 Thoughts on WWE Monday Night Raw and happy Memorial Day to you all.  Without further delay…

1.  Many will probably tear this promo by The Big Show apart, but I actually enjoyed it as it gave some depth to his character and the reasoning behind him doing a complete personality change.  He turned his back on the audience because he didn’t have to pander to them to keep his job as he now has a contract for life.  I’ll take a working explanation in any angle.

2.  Well I guess I was wrong last week when I predicted we were heading towards a Del Rio/Santino feud as del Rio won the #1 Contender spot for the World Heavyweight Championship.  Which you can read about here as Goji was too busy watching Colin Delaney matches to recap SmackDown.  Instead we have a comedy feud between Ricardo Rodriguez and Santino.  It’ll be interesting to see if they actually have a match at No Way Out.  Maybe we’ll be lucky and get it as a Pre-Show match.

3.  I’m a fan of both of the teams of R-Truth/Kofi Kingston and Jack Swagger/Dolph Ziggler, but one of the biggest problems with their tag division is they don’t have anything to remember them by.  You remember Demolition by their size, facepaint, theme, and power.  You remember the Rockers for their flashy attire, their flashy moves, and their energy.  What will we remember of the team of R-Truth and Kofi Kingston in two years?  They don’t have a remarkable finish, matching gear, or even a team name.

4.  Dolph Ziggler and Jack Swagger are splitting so it seems.  I thought they would make an impact as a team when they first formed, but it seems as though they’ve done nothing but spin their wheels since they got together.  So here’s looking forward to Dolph moving away from Swagger.

5.  Yet another stellar match between Bryan/Punk and it ends cleanly?  Then why in the world would I buy the PPV if the WWE is just going to give us the match a week later?  First we had the tag title match and now this.  If you’re going to have a rematch on Raw then it shouldn’t end that clean.  Kane should’ve interrupted and attacked Bryan before he could win.

6.  Speaking of Kane, this feud has really been intriguing.  It appears that this match at No Way Out will be a triple threat, but AJ has completely gone off her rocker.  Kane was used as a pawn by Bryan and Punk to attack the other without doing it themselves, but it escalated when Kane attacked back.  No way Kane wins the title, but he could be used as an excuse to extend the feud onwards.

7.  Someone in the comments section said that the reason we haven’t seen Miz much was because Jericho came in and did what he would do, except better.  Lo and behold, Jericho gets suspended indefinitely for desecrating a Brazilian flag and BAM Miz takes the place of Jericho in his feud with Orton.

8.  I have no idea where this angle with Dolph is going as he requested to be out of the tag team with Jack Swagger to Vickie.  It’s probably the most interesting piece of Raw at the moment.

9.  Christian defeats Miz and Miz demands a championship match.  Finally we’re getting to hear from Miz.  He’s been practically invisible for months with only a few instances of actually saying anything.

10.  Big Show destroys Brodus and the tag team champions with ease, but really the main event would’ve been bad to book either way.  If Show would’ve won, Clay would’ve lost his streak.  If Clay would’ve won, Show would’ve lost his momentum heading into No Way Out.  The ending fit and really fit his character of being able to do anything without facing repercussions.

Thanks for reading.

And quite frankly my dear… that’s a wrap!
