Fans waiting to see a Franz Ferdinand concert in Brazil were ambushed by police and pepper sprayed and tear gassed. The park where the show was to take place was still under its 20,000 person capacity, when organizers closed gates in order to reorganize entry. Some unruly fans decided to climb the gate to attend the show, and were then pepper sprayed by police. After reading tweets about the situation, Franz Ferdinand front man Alex Kapranos wrote: “Shit. That’s terrible. I wish there was something I could do,” and “We knew nothing of this. Awful news.”
