The big news of the last few days has been word that Tony Daniel was leaving the smash DC Comics New 52 success of Detective Comics. He made that announcement on his Facebook page. Tony has been a Bat-creator for a while having worked on the Batman proper titled pre-Flashpoint.
The big questions with this news were: (1) Who will take on the writing and art chores on Detective Comics, (2) What will Tony be working on now for DC Comics, and (3) What will happen to the Joker subplot Tony Daniel started. The Joker is missing his face afterall.
Well, the first two questions may be addressed in the road to or at this summer’s San Diego Comic Con.
However, the third question was answered by DC Comics today.
Batman writer Scott Snyder and artist Greg Capullo move from Owls to the Joker in October’s Batman #13. WOW.
And, it looks like the new Batman arc will be titled Death of the Family. That’s a play on the Death “in” the Family arc from the 1980s where the Joker seemingly killed Jason Todd when he was a Robin. So, will Scott also work with Batman’s ex-Robins in this new arc?
Well, we now know who Scott Snyder’s favorite villain he teased is. :)
Fun times ahead.
