The Cabin in the Woods Detailed For Blu-ray

Disc Announcements, News

Minor horror hit looks to make more people laugh and jump this September on Blu-ray.

In an early announcement to retailers, Lionsgate has confirmed that The Cabin in the Woods is coming to Blu-ray on September 18.

The horror movie that beings in conventional fashion before flipping the script to become something truly original was co-written by Joss Whedon (who made some movie called The Avengers – I understand it made some money) and Drew Goddard (of Cloverfield fame), almost never saw the light of day. It had been on the shelf for years because of MGM’s financial problems. Thankfully, Lionsgate swooped in and purchased the rights to distribute domestically. Made before Chris Hemsworth leaped onto the screen as Thor, he leads a cast that also includes Kristen Connolly, Fran Kranz, Jesse Williams, Anna Hutchison, Oscar nominee Richard Jenkins and Bradley Whitford.

The Blu-ray will feature 1080p video, a DTS-HD Master Audio 7.1 soundtrack, and supplements will include several behind-the-scenes featurettes (listed below), an audio commentary with Goddard and Whedon, and more.

Suggested list price for the Blu-ray is $39.99. Click here to pre-order and save 30%.
