Harrak’s Quick Quips: WWE Smackdown 8.31.12 (Sheamus, Alberto Del Rio, Damien Sandow, Randy Orton, Dolph Ziggler)

Reviews, Shows, Top Story, TV Shows

– They are REALLY trying to sell this faux Triple H retirement.

– Looks like they’re pulling the trigger on Damien Sandow already.

– Cody Rhodes seems to be booked in No Man’s Land. He’s not going to challenge Antonio Cesaro for the US Title but he’s not quite at the point of challenging Sheamus. He’s just in the infamous holding pattern and has to hope to outlast it.

– Rey’s concussion must have come from that twisting brainbuster. Really wish he hadn’t been hurt. Like I mentioned Monday, Sin Cara and Mysterio could be a great tag team and give Sin Cara the rub he DESPERATELY needs.

– Kaitlyn is built pretty much like Natalya and Beth Phoenix so she should be able to pull off some power moves. The “upset kid” gimmick is only going to go so far.

– Remember when wrestling didn’t have “general managers”? If you answered no, then you’re probably too young to be reading this site.

– My wife saw Damien Sandow for the first time this past Monday and was utterly confused by his character and ring gear. She was confused as to why he was being featured so much and is a favorite of Triple H’s. Then she saw him wrestle and how fluid he was and said, “Ohhh, it makes sense now. But I still hate his tights.”

– One major thing I like about Sheamus and his role as a babyface World champion is that while he does have the typical babyface signature moves you see in every match, he mixes them up to keep it all fresh in order to not fall into the John Cena/Bret Hart “Five Moves Of Doom” category.

– Sandow seriously just ran FULL TILT! Been awhile since I’ve seen that.

– Woah what was up with Kidd and Gabriel’s flourescent tank tops?! Looks they’re getting ready for a late night bike ride, not a wrestling match.

– Why do I feel like Kidd and Gabriel are going to turn into the 2012 version of London and Kendrick?

– Are there still people who care about Del Rio? He hasn’t evolved or adapted his ring style to fit the WWE at all and I’m bored.

– That apology from Kane was fantastic.

– By the finish of that match, Carlito would have had GREAT success against Kane.

– Poor Josh Mathews. It’s a good thing Al Snow trained him all those years ago on Tough Enough.

– Dolph Ziggler just finally caved and did the “Nature Boy” strut.

– Really? What was the point of giving Randy Orton the clean win here? I think he has the worst record of anyone after winning the Money In The Bank briefcase!
