Planes, Trains, And Automobiles Celebrating Its 25th Anniversary On Blu-ray

John Hughes’ Thanksgiving classic no longer a Best Buy exclusive this November.

For months now John Hughes’ Thanksgiving classic Planes, Trains, and Automobiles had been a Blu-ray title exclusive to Best Buy. But beginning November 6th, the film will be available to purchase online and at other B&M retailers.

The Paramount Home Entertainment release retains all the features as found on the version currently available to purchase at Best Buy including a retrospective on John Hughes’ career as a writer-director as well as a tribute for comedian John Candy.

In the holiday comedy, Steve Martin plays a businessman who is struggling to get home to Chicago for Thanksgiving only to encounter one travel mishap after another. He’s also in the company of a gregarious traveling salesman (played by Candy). The feature also includes appearances by Kevin Bacon and Michael McKean (both of whom where in Hughes’ The Big Picture) Edie McClurg (who was also in the Hughes’ scripted Ferris Bueller’s Day Off).

It is McClurg who is featured in one of the comedy’s most memorable scenes, as Steve Martin loses it in front of her, the phone chatty car rental clerk.
