Murtz On The Scene: Exclusive Interview With Community‘s Gillian Jacobs

Features, Interviews, Top Story, Video

If NBC and Citytv’s Community, celebrates the absurd, no character defines the show better than Britta Perry. Played perfectly by Gillian Jacobs, the character started off simply as Jeff Winger’s love interest in the first season, but has since taken on many faces given the constant fluidity of both the role and the show. While ‘pulling a Britta’ usually refers to making a mistake, her performances are usually anything but as the Pennsylvania-born actress delivers guaranteed hilarity every time.

Last week, I caught up with Jacobs (as well as Yvette Nicole Brown) as she appeared in Toronto as part of Netflix’s announcement that seasons two and three of the show are now available on the site. The interview is one of my favorites as we discussed the transition between Jeff to Troy as Britta’s primarily love interest, the AfterEllen poll for TV’s best-not really lesbian poll and how the show will move forward in the post-Dan Harmon era.

Jacobs was absolutely and unequivocally endearing and one of the funniest people I have ever spoken to. She is undeniably witty and affable and at times, I almost felt like I was the one being asked all the questions. I have no problem admitting that this is my favorite interview ever.
