One of CTV Two’s most buzzed about new shows for the upcoming season is The CW import Arrow.
A modern retelling of the legendary DC Comics character Green Arrow, Arrow tells the story of Oliver Queen (Stephen Amell), who, after a violent shipwreck was presumed dead but returns to Starling City five years after his initial disappearance. Upon his return, he is welcomed by his sister Thea (Willa Holland) and mother (Susanna Thompson). The more interesting reunions are with his former best friend Tommy (Colin Donnell) and his former flame Laurel Lance (Katie Cassidy). As Queen tries to reintegrate, he creates the Arrow persona to right the wrongs of his family and fight the ills of society.
There is no doubt in my mind that Katie Cassidy is the best actress on television today. She was the shining star on the Melrose Place spin-off and also sparkled in her guest stint on Gossip Girl (which both ironically aired on The CW as well). Willa Holland was also quite strong on The O.C. and I believe that Colin Donnell has the potential to be TV’s newest heartthrob.
I had the pleasure of interviewing all three at Fan Expo Canada in August and asked them about the series, why people should watch and what to expect.
Personally, I can’t wait for Cassidy’s Lance to assume the Black Canary character.
Check it out!
Arrow premieres tonight on CTV Two & The CW at 8 p.m.
