DVD Review: Mythbusters (Collection 8)

DVD Reviews, Reviews

Adam Savage, Jamie Hyneman and the lackeys are at it again with more episodes of Mythbusting action in this eighth collection of Mythbusters episodes. In this collection you get ten episodes from the 2010 season which consists of 23 episodes.

Highlights in this collection include the self explanatory “Duct Tape Hour 2,” “Waterslide Wipeout,” where they build a giant water slide to test a popular YouTube video and “Flu Fiction” where they test myth about the common cold.

These guys pretty much have the best job ever. They get to build things and blow things up all in the name of science. Yes, sometimes they do some dangerous stuff like attempting to survive a makeshift tornado with limited protection and other times they get to see if pepper spray and a taser can catch someone on fire. In this collection they also have fun with fireworks, they build an arrow machine gun and they crash some cars up good.

Whatever these guys do, they always end up having a great time and anyone watching this show has a good time too, if they have any sense that is. Mythbusters is a great show and these are a great group of episodes.

It’s also pretty cool that this show is shot near where I live and I spotted Savage walking down the street one time.

The episodes are presented in a widescreen 1.78:1. Sound is Dolby Digital 2.0 stereo sound. A very well shot show with tons of great slow motion shots. This DVD collection looks and sounds great.

There are no Special Features.

As I stated above, Mythbusters is a fantastic show. But is it a show you want to own and watch over and over again? For me the answer is no. Once I’ve seen one episode I’m pretty much good. I suppose there are hardcore fans that would want to watch them over and over, but for me, this is the kind of show you catch on Netflix instant view or where you watch TV shows these days.
