WWE Network Update from Vince McMahon – What Type of Model Will WWE Use?

News

Earlier this week, WWE CEO Vince McMahon announced that the WWE Network will in fact be a “premium subscription model” whenever the Network is launched. There is no timetable for an actual network launch, but with WWE’s TV contract with Syfy coming up soon (according to McMahon), WWE will have to decide whether or not to move a show like SmackDown over to its own network or keep pumping out programming to other TV stations.

When asked about programming the Network, McMahon said, “We have to look at this in terms of totality to promote Network, PPV, and everything else we do.” In addition, WWE officials noted that 50% of U.S. households are considered to be “a WWE household” or “have an affinity” for WWE.
