Rory MacDonald vs. Nick Diaz? UFC on Fox 5 Participant Would “Love” To Fight Another Stockton, CA, Resident

News

In an interview with MMA Weekly, Rory MacDonald had some interesting thoughts on who a potential opponent after B.J Penn next weekend could be: Nick Diaz.

Diaz, who’s manager (Cesar Gracie) has been angling to get into the cage with GSP despite being on suspension for a second failed drug test alongside GSP’s manager, would be someone the Canadian would “love” to fight.

“I would fight him,” MacDonald said about facing Diaz to MMA Weekly. “(He comes back ) in February, and I might be ready to fight in like March or something like that. He might be my next fight after B.J., you never know how it works.”

Kubryk’s Commentary: I love this match up for MacDonald following the Penn fight. If he wins, which isn’t guaranteed, Diaz will need to fight (and win) before getting a title shot in the UFC. MacDonald would be a perfect opponent as he’s someone who will be in the title hunt sooner than later, isn’t a failed challenger like Josh Koscheck and is in the same “one win away” from a title shot position that he is.
