Since the book debuted, All-New X-Men has had a core plot be that Hank McCoy, in the present, is dieing from his mutation. That was one of the reasons he went to the past for the younger versions of himself and his original teammates, because he thought himself to be on his death bed and wanted one last shot to do right by everyone he cared about.
What he didn’t expect, however, was that his own younger self would take one look at him and his problems, and seek out a method to fix them once and for all. That this younger Hank would have the ability to look at the situation from a few steps further back and do something as simple as correct his future selfs math. The end result is that the young Hank, not quite sure if he’s actually a doctor or just says so, finds the fix.
