Joseph Gordon-Levitt Added To Cast Of Sin City: A Dame To Kill For

Filmmaker Robert Rodriguez has shown that he doesn’t need much time to make a feature. The greatest example would be the TV film Roadracers. Originally airing on Showtime, the film was to have been directed by Wes Craven before he pulled out to do New Nightmare. Rodriguez came on board and shot the movie in 13 days.

Why is this important?

Well, Deadline is reporting that Joseph Gordon-Levitt will have a prominent role in Sin City: A Dame to Kill For, a film that hasn’t even finished shooting and will be released this October. The follow-up to the stylish noir drama that Robert Rodriguez and Frank Miller are directing is based on Miller’s graphic novel of the same name. JGL’s role is that of Johnny. His role will be one of the core characters in overlapping story lines that will feature stars from the original Sin City, like Mickey Rourke, Clive Owen, Bruce Willis, and Rosario Dawson. Jamie Chung will replace Devon Aoki as Miho, as Aoki is unavailable due to her pregnancy, and Dennis Haysbert will step in for Michael Clarke Duncan who passed away last year.

Joseph Gordon-Levitt is no stranger to noir as he starred in Rian Johnson’s directorial debut, Brick. They would re-team in 2012 for the time-traveling thriller Looper.

Sin City: A Dame to Kill For is slated to hit theaters October 4, 2013.
