For months now we’ve has the cover art for Earth 2 #8, featuring the return/debut (depending on how you look at it) of Steppenwolf…and his Amazon. We’ve been left to wonder who she may be, as well as how dangerous Steppenwolf is without his army. This issue gave us both, and to start with the latter half of my statement….Steppenwolf takes over a country in this issue. Not he leads an army or a revolution, he kills the leader and takes the throne for himself with the help of his secret weapon.
The final Amazon.
Fury. The daughter of Wonder Woman and….well, that part isn’t mentioned. In the long long ago, Fury was Lyta Trevor, daughter of Wonder Woman and Steve Trevor. It’s quite possible that this version is of the same lineage, but the real story is in how Steppenwolf stole her from her mother and raised her as his own, and what kind of time frame he did so in. Then again, Batman and Catwoman have a daughter about the same age, so it’s very possible that the age of heroes rolled out well before Darkseid decided to come and conquer.
Now, it would be easy to end this posing a question of how long until she fights the New 52 Wonder Woman…but how about a real challenge? How long until she has to go up against Alan Scott, the Green Lantern of Earth 2!
