NECA’s Discontinued Django Unchained Action Figures Removed From eBay.
by PK on January 25, 2013

Yahoo.com originally reported that the The Weinstein Co. has asked NECA to discontinue the Django Unchained action figure line.

“Django Unchained” is a violent mix of spaghetti Western and blaxploitation genres about a freed slave (Jamie Foxx) who becomes a bounty hunter. Civil rights groups argued that the toys trivialized the horrors of slavery. “We have tremendous respect for the audience and it was never our intent to offend anyone,” The Weinstein Co. said in a statement.

In an odd twist, TMZ is reporting that eBay has started to remove auctions of these figures from the website, presumably at the request of The Weinstein Co., with the following statement given:

“Since the manufacturer of this product has discontinued the item’s sale due to its potentially offensive nature, we are not allowing it to be sold on eBay.”

Gotta love how one corporation has the power to decide what people can sell or purchase. Even if this was racist, as an anti-racist person, i still want racist people to be able to buy racist things.
