Apparently, WWE’s decision to hold a NXT Tournament and eventually enter Bo Dallas into the Royal Rumble match bumped former WWE Tag Team & IC Champion Shelton Benjamin from making a surprise appearance in the match. The recent Ring of Honor star Benjamin was in town to work an indy show and was scheduled to make a surprise appearance in the annual battle royal. However WWE decided to run the tournament at the Royal Rumble fanfest and give the spot to the third generation star, Bo Dallas instead.
In related news and news that’ll make a lot of readers (including this writer) feel very old, Bo Dallas became the first Royal Rumble entrant in the match’s history who was not born when the first Royal Rumble match took place (Taylor Rotunda aka Bo Dallas was born on May 25th 1990).
