Too often, actors today are typecast for roles that seemingly define them. Two of the best examples are David Schwimmer’s “Ross” on Friends, and Jason Alexander’s “George” on Seinfeld. With the long-lasting network and rerun appeal of Will & Grace, many assumed that it would be the role that would define Debra Messing’s career. When I heard that the actress had signed up for Smash last year, I was quite curious to see how she would fare. The result was smashing (pun intended).
I had the chance to catch up with Debra Messing before the first season at CTV’s upfront presentation and here’s what she thought about the show in advance of tonight’s second season premiere.
Check it out!
Smash’s two-hour second season premiere airs tonight on CTV Two and NBC at 9 p.m.
