Pat Curran vs. Daniel Straus set for April 4 Bellator event

News

Bellator Featherweight Champion Pat Curran will defend the championship for the second time this year against Daniel Straus at an April 4 event from The Revel Casino in Atlantic City, New Jersey. The fight will serve as the night’s main event on Spike TV.

Curran (18-4) won the championship in March 2012 when he defeated Joe Warren. Injuries kept him out of action until January’s Bellator 85 event, the first Bellator event on Spike TV. Curran scored a decision win over Patricio Freire in the first Bellator fight televised on Spike TV.

Straus (21-4) defeated Marlon Sandro in May 2012 to win the season six Bellator Featherweight Tournament to earn his title opportunity. Straus has won five straight fights and is 15-1 in his last 16 fights.

Curran and Straus have fought once before, in April 2009 for the XFO promotion. Curran won that fight by knockout.

It’ll be a busy stretch for The Revel Casino, which holds the World Series of Fighting’s second event on March 23.
