10 Thoughts On… Survivor Caramoan: Fans vs Favorites 2 – Episode 4 Review

10 Thoughts, Features, Reviews, Top Story

1. This season needs something major to happen and after months of speculation about Brandon Hantz’s blowout, I am excited to see what he does tonight, only because at least it will be something on this drab season that I am looking forward to. Just like the preview indicated, I have heard that his freakout is something that Survivor fans will be talking about for years to come, so I am interested to see whether whatever he does actually lives up to the hype. While it will reduce the Fans’ tribe in numbers (which is definitely not a good thing), I am happy about the fact that we will finally get to see more of their camp as the last few fan-intense episodes have been pretty boring.

2. On that front, I am glad that Shamar’s involuntary (or voluntary depending on who you ask) exit is finally complete. He received almost as much airtime as Russell Hantz did in Russell’s first season and comparing those two is like comparing McDonald’s filet-o-fish to expensive sushi. I simply do not understand why the editors were so consumed with Shamar to such an extent. The only thing that I can think of is that they had nothing else to work with.

3. Surely Reynold must have been a highschool pitcher or something. I want the Jays to draft him!

4. While I like the fact that Matt is finally playing the game, his decision to now keep Eddie and Reynold is a bad one. Why? Because he and Michael have already made their bed to align against the cool kids and should now sleep in it. It is too late to salvage any kind of loyalty from Eddie and Reynold who will undoubtedly flip to the Favorites as soon as they can. Knocking off Laura instead of them will not win back any points with the two who have been outsiders since the first day. By not eliminating them now, Michael and Matt are ruining their long game. What they don’t realize is that they have no chance of heading into the merge on equal footing. They should now start making plans on how they should flip to the Favorites instead of keeping Eddie and Reynold around to ‘win challenges,’ knowing they will turn for sure since the window for the Fans winning challenges has passed.

5. I can’t get over how good Corinne looks this season. She is incredible!

6. I loved Malcolm referring to the native tribesman as a ‘Filipino Gollum.’ One of the best lines I have ever heard on the show.

7. I have to say that at this point, I legitimately think this has been the worst season of Survivor to date. Not too long ago, I wrote a preview article that predicted that this season would not only be the best Survivor season of all-time, but also the best reality show in history. Unless something changes quickly, the only thing it will be is my worst prognostication ever.

8. Can someone explain to me why Julia has received more airtime than Erik and Brenda this season? I don’t get it.

9. I want a Stealth R Us nickname. It seems that Phillip is now handing them out to anyone with a pulse, so I want to grab my number in line.

10. While Cochran is the standout player already this season, at this point, that’s like saying he is the Kindergarten Cop. Any ending that does not result in a Cochran victory would be terribly disappointing considering the lack of game his competitors are showing.
