Antonio Rodrigo Nogueira vs. Fabricio Werdum headlines UFC On FUEL TV 10

News

The coaches for the upcoming second season of The Ultimate Fighter: Brazil now have an official date for their season-ending match-up. Coaches Antonio Rodrigo Nogueira (34-7-1 1 NC, 5-3 UFC) and Fabricio Werdum (16-5-1, 4-2 UFC) will meet in a five-round main event at UFC On FUEL TV 10, which also serves as the finale for TUF: Brazil 2. MMAFighting.com’s Ariel Helwani reported the news on Tuesday’s edition of “UFC Tonight”.

Nogueira and Werdum will fight for the second time in their career. Nogueira defeated Werdum by unanimous decision in July 2006 during the quarterfinals of the 2006 Pride Openweight Grand Prix. Their careers have taken different paths since then- Nogueira eventually won the Interim UFC Heavyweight Championship while Werdum became the first fighter to hand Fedor Emelianenko a legitimate loss.

Nogueira enters the fight off a win over Dave Herman at UFC 153 in October while Werdum has won two straight since coming back to the UFC following the heavyweight merger with Strikeforce, and has won five of his last six overall. Werdum has wins over Roy Nelson and Mike Russow since coming back to the UFC. Nogueira is currently ranked #7 and Werdum is ranked #2 in the UFC’s Heavyweight Rankings.

UFC On FUEL TV 10: Nogueira vs. Werdum takes place on June 8. No location or venue has been officially announced though reports suggest it will take place in Fortaleza, Brazil. The main card airs on FUEL TV while prelims take place on Facebook.
