Don’t let that lead-in fool you; this is not The Lonely Island making a full-length version of its “Motherlover” song/skit as seen on SNL. This is Mark Wahlberg, Dwayne Johnson and Anthony Mackie as three guys in pursuit of the American Dream.
Michael Bay, who has been busy the last decade playing with Hasbro toys, looks to return to his kick-ass ways with the action comedy Pain & Gain. The film is based on the unbelievable true story of three personal trainers in 1990s Miami who, in pursuit of the American Dream, get caught up in a criminal enterprise that goes horribly wrong. The film also stars Ed Harris, Tony Shalhoub, Rebel Wilson and Rob Corddry.
Christopher Markus and Stephen McFeely, who penned Captain America: The First Avenger and the forthcoming Captain America: The Winter Soldier, supplied Bay with a script based on magazine articles written by Pete Collins.
