The third round voting has ended and after thousands of votes, we had even more upsets. The biggest upsets were TWO #1 seeds losing. Lots of fan campaigning online has made this tournament even more interesting as we head into the “Sweet 16”. But first lets look at what happened in the third round voting!

The ABC Region lost another seed, but that was inevitable since it was the #1 seed Castle/Beckett taking out the #8 seed, the girls from Pretty Little Liars. Castle and Beckett only won by 57%, but that enough for them to be the only #1 seed left in this tournament. Dean and Sam from Supernatural were the big winners in this region as they beat another CW couple from Arrow with 80% of the vote. Neal and Peter from White Collar, and the #3 seed, Damon/Elena/Stefan from The Vampire Diaries, also cruised to victories with nearly 70% of the vote each.

The FOX region also featured a #1 vs. #8 seed battle. But this time the #8 seed, Homer and Marge Simpson, defeated the #1 seed, Jim Halpert and Pam Beesley from The Office. It was close but the oldest couple in this tournament won with 57% of the vote. Besides losing the #1 seed, the #3 and #5 seeds from this region also lost! In fact, Lily/Marshall from How I Met Your Mother easily defeated the #5 seed, Steve and Danny from Hawaii Five-0, with over 80% of the vote. Brian and David from New Normal also had about the same margin of victory over the #3 seed, Derek and Meredith from Grey’s Anatomy. The #2 seed, Chuck and Blair from Gossip Girl, ALMOST went down as well. But they were able to hold off Peter and Olivia from Fringe by 21 votes!

The CBS region also lost two of its top seeds this round. The big one was a close battle between #1 seed, Brennan and Booth from Bones, and Prince Charming and Snow White from Once Upon A Time. Only 7 votes separated them, but in the end Snow and Charming pulled off the BIG upset. The other top seed losing here was the #3 seed, Barney and Robin from How I Met Your Mother, getting blown out by Kurt and Blaine from Glee, who won with 80% of the vote. The #7 seed, Troy and Abed from Community, has a close fight with Shawn and Gus from Psych, but Troy and Abed eventually won with 55% of the vote. Catherine and Vincent from Beauty and the Beast also continued their run through the tournament by defeating Sherlock Holmes and Dr. Joan Watson from Elementary with 69% of the vote.

Finally, the NBC region lost another top seed, but we have come to expect that from this region. Sheldon and Amy from The Big Bang Theory easily defeated the #8 seed, Dexter and Deb from Dexter, with 80% of the vote. The #2 seed, Jess and Nick from New Girl, had the largest margin of victory in the entire third round. They beat Andy and Sam from Rookie Blue with 84% of the vote. Jay and Gloria from Modern Family, and Santanna and Brittany from Glee also won by comfortable margins to move on.

As we head into the “Sweet 16” round, there are only 6 of the top 32 seeds left. There has been lots of fan support among the 10 “unranked” couples that have propelled them this far. But now is the time where they start to face off against each other. So even though there aren’t many top ranked couples left, that doesn’t mean there aren’t any interesting match ups.

Here is the network breakdown from the remaining 16 couples left. The CW and FOX lead the way with 4 couples each. ABC has 3 couples left. NBC and CBS each have 2 couples left, and there is 1 couple from a cable network. So not surprisingly, it’s mostly couples from the “Big 4” and The CW. Glee is also the only show with more than one couple still left in the tournament.

If you don’t know what this is all about, go back to the First Round Voting Page, Second Round Voting Page and Third Round Voting Page and get all of the details there. Remember, when you do place your votes in this tournament, you should always vote on who is the best TV couple RIGHT NOW. Some of these couples have been around for years, but some are brand new. This is not an All-Time tournament. This is as of right now, who is the best. And remember, what you are really voted on is which relationship is the best for that show? If you took out these characters from a show, would it be the same? If it wouldn’t, that is who you would vote for.

Now on with the matchups and let the voting begin!

Each of these polls will stay open for one week. Next week the next round begins and we will continue until the final TV couple is crowned as the best some time around the end of April. Remember to tell all of your friends to vote as well and double check to make sure you voted in all of the polls!

I'm not embarrassed to say that my favorite television show of all-time is The O.C. I live by the motto "you can't fight fate!" More importantly, I watch WAY too much television, but I do so for the benefit of everyone reading this now. So to my mom and my wife, I say thanks for reading! To everyone else that might stumble across this, remember TiVo should be your best friend!
