While Jillian MacLaughlin was named the winner of Big Brother Canada in the most shocking and controversial way, she was still the player who best deserved to win and I couldn’t have been happier with the result. I was a huge Jillian fan during the course of the season and I genuinely cannot see any reason why Big Brother should not be thrilled with her taking home the $100,000. She won competitions, backstabbed players with reckless abandon, and while The Sheyld claimed to be the smartest players in the house, Jillian actually was. In my conversations with Peter Brown, we discussed how Jillian’s game relied on winning competitions (while the best Big Brother players have traditionally been the ones who never needed any wins) but on a season mired with showmances and twists, there is no denying Jillian is who deserved to win.
I had the opportunity to sit-down with down with Canada’s first Big Brother winner for an extended one-on-one chat the day after the finale.
