How appropriate. A week after Miley Cyrus lights up Twitter for her, um, “terking” incident at the MTV’s VMAs, Universal drops the first restricted trailer of Zac Efron portraying a douchebag neighbor in Neighbors. This seems against type for the once High School Musical/Disney star, but here’s the deal: He’s playing a character in a fictional movie, not making a public scene in front of thousands in attendance and millions watching worldwide.
Also playing against type is Seth Rogen as an upstanding family man, married (to Rose Byrne – lucky so and so) with a newborn.
As the story goes, a turf war develops between Seth Rogen and the new neighbors – a fraternity headed up by Efron. Hijinks ensue involving missing air bags, busted water pipe, and a baby chewing on what Rogen thinks is a balloon at first.
Here’s the official synopsis from Universal:
Seth Rogen, Zac Efron and Rose Byrne lead the cast of Neighbors, a comedy about a young couple suffering from arrested development who are forced to live next to a fraternity house after the birth of their newborn baby. Neighbors is directed by Nick Stoller (Forgetting Sarah Marshall, Get Him to the Greek).
Neighbors will hit theaters on May 9, 2014.
