Chael Sonnen vs. Rashad Evans official for UFC 167

News

Chael Sonnen and Rashad Evans may at times be co-analysts during UFC coverage on the FOX networks, but in November they will step inside the Octagon and be opponents.

Sonnen (29-13-1, 7-5 UFC) and Evans (18-3-1, 13-3-1 UFC) will meet at UFC 167 from Las Vegas in November, and the bout will be contested at light heavyweight. Both have made rumblings of moving down to the middleweight division, but they remain at 205 pounds and are expected to be the night’s co-main event. Sonnen announced the bout officially on today’s UFC Fight Night 28 Pre-Fight Show on FOX Sports 1 while Evans announced the bout on Alchemist Radio Podcast on Tuesday.

Both men are looking for their second straight wins after recently getting back into the win column. Sonnen submitted Mauricio Rua at UFC Fight Night 26 last month while Evans won a decision over Dan Henderson at UFC 161 in June. Both have suffered recent losses to UFC Light Heavyweight Champion Jon Jones in title fights.

UFC 167 takes place on Nov. 16 from the MGM Grand Garden Arena and will air on pay-per-view. UFC Welterweight Champion Georges St. Pierre defends the title against top contender Johny Hendricks in the night’s main event.
