(2) What Is A Two-Layer Acetate Cover?
Two covers that together make one! See how it works below. This seems to be Marvel’s smaller-scale December answer to the current September 3D craze. Gimmick aside, I enjoyed the first Origin mini and even the Origins ongoing-series. This should be interesting. I love period pieces.

(1) Spider-Men. Spider-Men. Does Whatever A Spider Can…
If Doctor Octopus a.k.a. Otto Octavious is using Peter Parker’s body, did Peter ever leave the Marvel Universe? Well, Marvel is hyping the return of Peter Parker and his Amazing Spider-Man persona in December. There will be five issue #700 comic books, #700.1 to #700.5 by various creative teams. So, is Peter back, body and soul? You decide. I’ve included the first two solicits below.
- AMAZING SPIDER-MAN #700.1 and #700.2
DAVID MORRELL (w) • KLAUS JANSON (a)
Covers by PASQUAL FERRY
Variant Covers by KLAUS JANSON
• One year after his death at the hands of the Superior Spider-Man – PETER PARKER IS BACK!
• Acclaimed novelist David Morrell (First Blood) and legendary comics icon Klaus Janson (DAREDEVIL: END OF DAYS) team up to kick off this celebration of the world’s greatest super hero!
• With a blizzard crippling New York City, Spider-Man must protect the city – but Aunt May’s life is in danger!
So, if the real Peter Parker is back as the Amazing Spider-Man, why do we still get Doctor Octopus as the Superior Spider-Man. Ah, Amazing Spider-Man #700 is an anniversary celebration whereas Superior Spider-Man remains the status quo?! Maybe? However, the opening line of the preceding solicit makes it seem this takes place “now”. Interesting. Check out one December’s Superior Spider-Man solicitations below. Which Spider-Man is on first as it were? Well, I’m intrigued enough to want to find out.
- SUPERIOR SPIDER-MAN #23
Dan Slott and Chris Gage (W)
Humberto Ramos (A/C)
Variant cover BY Skottie Young
DARKEST HOURS Part 2 of 4: “Complications”
• As Otto Octavius takes another big step in his life as Peter Parker… could a big part of Flash Thompson’s life be coming to a close? Will he be… VENOM NO MORE?!
• More with MJ! More with Carlie! More with the Green Goblin! And, after half a century, one of the most cringe-worthy moments in ALL of Spidey-history! You do NOT want to miss this one!
(BONUS) Infinity Spawns Inhumanity
You’re probably interested in how the Infinity mini-event for Marvel ends. Well, it spawns Inhumanity.
- INHUMANITY #1
MATT FRACTION (W)
OLIVIER COIPEL (A/C)
• After INFINITY, the Marvel Universe has changed.
• The Avengers find themselves face to face with Karnak who has discovered the secret of the Inhumans that will shake the Marvel U to its core.
