UFC Fight Night 32: Vitor Belfort vs. Dan Henderson 2 LIVE Play-by-Play & Results

Hello fight fans and welcome to Inside Fights’ live coverage of UFC Fight Night 32 from the Goiania Arena in Goiania, Brazil headlined by a five-round light heavyweight bout as former UFC Light Heavyweight Champion Vitor Belfort and former Strikeforce & PRIDE champion Dan Henderson meet for the second time. The fight caps off a fight card featuring 11 bouts. The main card airs on FOX Sports 1 while preliminary action takes place online, including here at Inside Fights. Jose Maria Tome vs. Dustin Ortiz

ROUND 1- We start with a flyweight bout. Kevin MacDonald is the referee. Both rush to the center of the Octagon and Maria misses on a spinning back fist. Maria misses a spin kick and they trade punches. Maria with an inside leg kick. Maria misses a right hand but transitions into a takedown. Maria quickly looks to take the back as Ortiz rushes towards the cage and gets to his feet. Maria has the back and Ortiz breaks wrist control and spins around and they face one another. Another takedown from Maria but Ortiz gets right back to his feet. Maria with a knee to the leg. They break. They trade punches. Ortiz with a leg kick. Ortiz lands a nice combination. They tie up and both are battling for double underhooks. Ortiz hits a knee low and we have a break in the action. Maria comes back with a couple of leg kicks as we return to action. They trade kicks and Maria grabs Ortiz and they scramble. Ortiz pushes Maria against the fence and is looking for the takedown. Ortiz takes the back and is landing punches as the crowd boos. Ortiz looking to get the hooks in and is landing punches to soften Maria up. Maria tries to roll out but Ortiz takes back control and transitions into guard. They get back to the feet and break. Maria with a leg kick. Ortiz shoots in and gets another takedown but Maria moves into a guillotine choke and it is locked in. Ortiz is surviving and landing body punches but it is in tight. Maria has a bad angle and the round ends as Ortiz survives. 10-9 Maria.

ROUND 2- Maria misses another spinning back fist to start round two. Both miss left hands. Maria with a leg kick but then misses a head kick attempt. Leg kick from Maria. Ortiz with the body kick and then hits a head kick. They trade punches and Maria lands a nice leg kick. Maria goes for a takedown but it is stuffed. Maria with a body punch and then lands a right hand. Ortiz slips on a punch but is back up and lands a nice combination. Low kick from Ortiz hits the groin of Maria and we have a timeout. Back to action and Maria hits a leg kick but Ortiz counters with a nice right hand. Ortiz lands another right hand. Maria hits a leg kick and Ortiz counters with a takedown attempt. They battle for it and then break. They trade leg kicks. Maria with a big right hand. Maria with a leg kick as Ortiz stalks in. Ortiz with a superman punch. They trade punches. Maria gets shoved down and they battle against the cage. Maria trips up Ortiz to his knees. Ortiz switches and they get back to the feet. Dirty boxing from Ortiz. Maria with a leg kick. Nice right hand from Ortiz and then he gets the takedown into side control. The crowd boos. Ortiz looks to transition to mount and lands some punches from the top. Ortiz with some elbows and Maria spins out and they get back to the feet. Ortiz shoots in but Maria sprawls the takedown attempt. Maria is bleeding. Maria goes for a guillotine choke but Ortiz is holding on. Much like the end of the first as Maria ends the round with a choke locked in. 10-9 Ortiz, 19-19.

ROUND 3- They trade punches and quickly tie up and push against the cage. Ortiz gets double underhooks and is looking for a takedown. Ortiz scores a takedown into side control and is looking to posture up. Ortiz with punches from the top. Ortiz moves into guard and back into side control as he lands from the top. Maria is breathing heavily. Ortiz steps over to mount and but has to get back into side control. Ortiz back on top and is landing elbows from the top. A lot of significant strikes landing as Maria looks to scramble. Maria tries to roll out but they end back up in side control for Ortiz. Ortiz looking for a head-and-neck choke as Maria tries to roll out. Ortiz takes the back from the side and starts landing a bunch of punches. Hammerfists from Ortiz and the referee jumps in to stop the fight. Maria wasn’t in a lot of trouble but ate a bunch of hammerfists and Ortiz picks up the TKO win in his UFC debut.

Adriano Martins vs. Daron Cruickshank

Referee: Mario Yamasaki

ROUND 1- Martins is making his UFC debut. Cruickshank is the slight favorite in this fight. Mario Yamasaki will be the referee. Martins is a southpaw. Cruickshank with a quick leg kick as they circle one another. Cruickshank with a body combination. Martins very tentative in the opening minute and Cruickshank lands a nice body kick. Martins with a nice left hand. Martins with an inside leg kick. Cruickshank with a solid combination ending with a high kick. Nice combo from Cruickshank and he circles away from the left hand of Martins. Martins lands a left hand that drops Cruickshank and he starts landing some hammerfists. Cruickshank survives and gets back to his feet. Cruickshank with a head kick. Martins lands a big combination and hurts Cruickshank with a left hand. Cruickshank with a spin kick. They trade leg kicks and Martins with a left hand to the body. Left hand from Martins and they go to the ground. Martins is in half-guard and lands some punches from the top. Martins looking to transition into side control and he grabs Cruickshank’s arm. He’s looking for a kimura then moves to an armbar. Cruickshank escapes out and Martins goes back into half-guard. Good defense from Cruickshank. Martins goes back for a kimura but can’t get it locked in. We will end the round with Martins landing some body punches from half-guard. 10-9 Martins.

ROUND 2- They take the center of the Octagon and both look to set up punches. Cruickshank with a leg kick. Cruickshank with a head kick and Martins reverses it into a takedown and he’s in the guard on top. Martins with punches from the top. Cruickshank looks to push him off but Martins lands a big right hand. Martins with some more punches from the top as he moves into half-guard. Martins looks to get into side control and is looking for the arm again. He gets the arm and goes for a kimura and has the arm against the fence. Cruickshank’s arm is trapped against the cage and Martins is still looking for the kimura. Martins with a body punch from the top. Martins goes back for the kimura and he locks it in. Cruickshank quickly taps! Martins with a submission win and the crowd goes wild.

Thiago Tavares vs. Justin Salas

ROUND 1- Tavares fights for the first time since January. Dan Miragliotta is the referee. Tavares with a big body kick. Tavares goes for a takedown but Salas sprawls and Tavares stays on the mat and tries to bait Salas down. The referee orders Tavares up. Tavares with a head kick after missing a right hand. Nice combination from Tavares. They tie up and Tavares lands some knees in the clinch as Salas attacks the body. Tavares shoots in and gets Salas down to the mat. They get to the feet but Tavares picks Salas up and walks and slams him down and Tavares is in side half-guard. Tavares with punches from the top. Tavares looking for the choke and Salas lands some back elbows. Tavares with punches from the top and he looks to take the back. Tavares gets the hooks in and has the back. Tavares lands with punches and locks in a rear-naked choke. They roll and it is in tighter and Salas taps out. Submission win for Tavares and the crowd goes wild.

Thiago Perpetuo vs. Omari Akhmedov

Referee: Kevin MacDonald

ROUND 1- Ahkmedov makes his UFC debut with an undefeated record. Kevin MacDonald is the referee. They take the center of the Octagon and they both go to the mat. Perpetuo with some hard punches from the top but they get back to the feet and Akhmedov has the fight against the fence. Big recovery from Akhmedov. They went down after colliding heads. Akhmedov with knees in the tie up. Akhmedov goes for the takedown but Perpetuo stuffs it. Perpetuo with a big right hand that rocks Akhmedov. Akhmedov drags the fight to the mat and has the back. Perpetuo gets out of the choke but Akhmedov still has the back and is looking to lock the choke back in. Perpetuo gets out and they get back to the feet. Perpetuo with the takedown and he has in side control. Perpetuo with some punches from the top but Akhmedov gets the fight back to the feet. Akhmedov with a nice combination and then he knocks Perpetuo out with a big right hand! Akhmedov with the knockout as he was backing up while hurt. It was a short right hand.

Godofredo Pepey vs. Sam Sicilia

Referee: Dan Miragliotta

ROUND 1- We are down to our final preliminary bout as both men look to get back into the win column. Dan Miragliotta will officiate this fight. Pepey just misses a head kick to start out the fight. Pepey just misses on an overhand right. Pepey goes for a takedown but Sicilia ends up on top and is in the guard. Sicilia lands with some punches from the top and then gets out of guard. Big right hand from Sicilia and he follows up with a couple more big right hands. Pepey lands an upkick but Sicilia comes in and hurts Pepey with a right hand. More right hands from Sicilia and he has Pepey in trouble. It’s over. Sicilia with a TKO win as Miragliotta stops the fight as Pepey was done from the punches.

Rony Jason vs. Jeremy Stephens

Referee: Kevin MacDonald

ROUND 1- Stephens is looking for his second win at 145 pounds while Jason is looking to go to 4-0 in the UFC. Kevin MacDonald is the referee assigned to this bout. Stephens takes the center of the Octagon. Jason misses a flying knee but comes back with a body kick. They trade right hands. Big head kick from Stephens sends Jason down and one more punch finishes it off. Jason is out cold. There’s the knockout bonus right there for Stephens.

Santiago Ponzinibbio vs. Ryan LaFlare

Referee: Mario Yamasaki

ROUND 1- Ponzinibbio is making his UFC debut. Ponzinibbio starts off with a head kick and they go to feeling each other out. Ponzinibbio misses a spinning back fist attempt. Ponzinibbio with a body kick and LaFlare reverses it into a takedown and he is on top. LaFlare gets into mount and is looking to set something up. LaFlare with a right hand and Ponzinibbio gets out of mount and has LaFlare in his guard. Ponzinibbio pushes LaFlare off and they almost get to the feet but LaFlare ends up back on top. LaFlare mounts Ponzinibbio again and drops some punches from the top. Ponzinibbio tries a sweep to get out but LaFlare has him down solidly. LaFlare with some elbows from the mount and is looking to set up a choke but can’t secure it. LaFlare moves to side control and is looking for an arm but Ponzinibbio escapes and is looking to take the back. LaFlare scrambles back to top position and into the guard. LaFlare gets up and greets Ponzinibbio with a right hand as he gets up. They trade kicks. Ponzinibbio with a body kick and LaFlare quickly gets him down. Ponzinibbio in the butterfly guard and lands an upkick. LaFlare with a big left hand as he falls back into the guard. They get to their feet. LaFlare misses a spin kick. They trade an exchange. LaFlare with a kick and Ponzinibbio comes back with a leg kick and a big right hand to close the round. 10-9 LaFlare.

ROUND 2- LaFlare with a kick to the body to start the second round. LaFlare gets the takedown but Ponzinibbio tries to scramble out. LaFlare takes the back of Ponzinibbio. They get back to the feet and LaFlare lands an elbow as they break. LaFlare with a nice combination to the body. LaFlare gets stuffed as he shoots in for a takedown. LaFlare with a body kick and then one to the leg. Head kick from Ponzinibbio. LaFlare misses an uppercut but lands a head kick. Ponzinibbio with a body kick and both men are starting to show signs of wear down. Nice combinations from LaFlare. Ponzinibbio with a front kick to the body. Ponzinibbio lands a right hand but LaFlare counters with a combo. Ponzinibbio misses a big body kick. They trade combinations and Ponzinibbio hurts LaFlare. LaFlare is trying to survive against the fence as Ponzinibbio forces him to retreat. Ponzinibbio lands a left hook and still has LaFlare in trouble. LaFlare lands a left hand and then a body kick as he seems out of trouble. Ponzinibbio backs LaFlare back up. LaFlare goes for a weak takedown but he does get it. LaFlare is in half-guard. He tries to move to mount but can’t get there. Ponzinibbio tries to sweep out but conditioning is taking over. LaFlare with body punches as the round ends. It will be interesting to see if the takedown by LaFlare swayed the judges. I give it to Ponzinibbio though. 10-9 Ponzinibbio, 19-19.

ROUND 3- This fight could be anyones’ right now. LaFlare with a nice body kick and then a left hand. LaFlare with another body kick. Ponzinibbio just misses a head kick. They trade in close range. Ponzinibbio misses a superman punch. Head kick from LaFlare and then an inside leg kick. Ponzinibbio with a body kick and LaFlare returns with a leg kick. They’re trading kicks. Ponzinibbio misses a spinning attack and LaFlare counters with a big takedown and into side control. LaFlare with some elbows from side control. LaFlare lands some short elbows and is wearing Ponzinibbio down good. LaFlare holding him in side control. Ponzinibbio tries to roll out but ends up against the cage. LaFlare with a knee to the body. They get up and LaFlare lands some nice punches. LaFlare drops Ponzinibbio with a kick to the body and LaFlare is attacking with a bunch of punches. Ponzinibbio is surviving as the output is a lot but not with much power. LaFlare with more punches and elbows from the top. Ponzinibbio gets up but is eating more punches from LaFlare. They break and LaFlare goes back on the attack. They trade kicks and Ponzinibbio hurts LaFlare with a punch and down goes LaFlare. Ponzinibbio tries a punch but LaFlare grabs his arm and reverses it and sweeps Ponzinibbio into side control. LaFlare with an elbow to the body and he gets the round as it ends. 10-9 LaFlare, 29-28 LaFlare.

Paulo Thiago vs. Brandon Thatch

Referee: Dan Miragliotta

ROUND 1- Thatch looks to build on an impressive UFC debut. Dan Miragliotta will be the referee. Thatch with a quick high kick and he looks to start chopping away at the legs. Thatch with a body kick. Left hand misses from Thatch. Thiago just misses a right hand. Thatch goes for a flying knee and Thiago reverses it into a takedown. Thatch gets up quickly and they clinch against the fence. Knees from Thatch as Thiago has a body lock. Thiago with a knee to the body. Thatch with a knee to the face and they trade on the break. Head kick and knee from Thatch. Thiago looks for a trip but they break. Thatch then hurts Thiago with a knee and drops him. Thatch lands some punches and Thiago taps out from the strikes. Thatch will be credited with a submission due to punches. Big win for Thatch.

Rafael Cavalcante vs. Igor Pokrajac

ROUND 1- Both men looking to get back into the win column after having winless streaks. Kevin MacDonald gets the officiating assignment. They touch gloves. They tag each other quickly with punches and they are trading punches. Cavalcante lands a nice right hand that rocks Pokrajac. Pokrajac initiates a clinch and has Cavalcante against the cage. Pokrajac with some knees to the thighs. The crowd begins to boo. Cavalcante gets a Thai plumb and rocks Pokrajac with some knees and he drops Pokrajac with some punches. Several more punches on Pokrajac and it is stopped! Knockout win for Cavalcante! Replay shows that Pokrajac also tapped due to strikes but it was gonna be stopped anyways.

Cezar Ferreira vs. Daniel Sarafian

ROUND 1- We get this long-awaited bout which was the original finals of TUF: Brazil 1. Mario Yamasaki is the referee. Ferreira with a front kick to start as Sarafian backs him up. Sarafian misses a big right hand and they tie up against the fence. Ferreira looking for an arm against the cage as Sarafian is looking for the takedown. Not a lot of action going on and we’re almost two minutes in. Yamasaki breaks them up. Sarafian lands a big right hand. Ferreira rushes in and stuffs a takedown. Ferreira shoots for a double-leg and pushes Sarafian against the fence. Sarafian has Ferreira’s neck. Sarafian falls down with a guillotine choke but doesn’t have the best position. Ferreira escapes and they get back to their feet. They break. Ferreira with a series of high kicks and misses a spin kick. Sarafian misses as he rushes in with a combination. They clinch and Ferreira pushes the fight against the fence. Ferreira with a knee and they break. They trade right hands and they slug away for a moment. Ferreira with a leg kick. Sarafian with a front kick as they trade punches in close. Sarafian clips Ferreira and they clinch against the fence. Ferreira with an uppercut and a high kick and the round ends. Close round. 10-9 Ferreira.

ROUND 2- Sarafian with a leg kick and then another to open his attack in the second round. Ferreira misses with some spinning stuff but then executes a power takedown into half-guard. Ferreira looking to pass guard but falls into full guard. Ferreira with a right hand from the top. Ferreira with some soft body punches from the top. Sarafian looking to set up a choke but he isn’t anywhere near executing it. The crowd is booing as we don’t have too much action. Ferreira postures up and Sarafian rolls out and they’re back on their feet. Ferreira slips on a punch and Sarafian lands a big right hand. Sarafian with some leg kicks and then a big left hand. Ferreira changes levels and gets another big takedown. The crowd is booing. Ferreira looking to transition as Sarafian is looking to use the cage to sweep. Ferreira wants a choke but the cage is in the way. Ferreira was working but Yamasaki broke them up. Questionable standup there. Ferreira with a couple of front kicks. Sarafian pressures Ferreira against the cage looking to take the fight down to the mat. We are all clinched up to end the round. 10-9 Ferreira, 20-18 Ferreira.

ROUND 3- Sarafian with a stiff right hand to start the round. Ferreira with a big head kick that stumbles Sarafian. Ferreira misses a spinning attack and Sarafian grabs his back. Sarafian lands a nice combination as they break. Ferreira with another takedown and he hops right into half-guard. Ferreira looks to pass guard and possibly get set up into mount. Ferreira with punches from the top. Ferreira with more punches from the top. Ferreira with some body punches from the top. Sarafian can’t get this fight to the feet though he is trying. Ferreira flattens him down and looks to pass guard again. Ferreira switching from punching the body and head and Yamasaki stands them up. Ferreira with another power takedown and the crowd boos again and is chanting loudly. Ferreira takes the back but isn’t doing much. Sarafian gets to his feet with Ferreira on his back. Ferreira has both hooks in. Ferreira with some under the shoulder punches. Ferreira looking for a standing rear-naked choke but can’t get it under the chin. We wind this down with Ferreira unable to get that choke. 10-9 Ferreira, 30-27 Ferreira.

Vitor Belfort vs. Dan Henderson

Referee: Dan Miragliotta

ROUND 1- Time for our five-round main event bout between two former champions. Dan Miragliotta is the referee for the bout. Feeling each other out for the first 45 seconds. Belfort drops Henderson as he rushes in and is unloading a lot of punches. Henderson survives and gets to his feet but Belfort knocks him down with a head kick. Vitor Belfort has finished Dan Henderson. Miragliotta stops the fight as Belfort was about to deliver a bunch of punches following the head kick knockdown. The first time Henderson has been stopped with strikes.
