Murtz On The Scene – The X Factor Results Finale – Exclusive Red Carpet Interview With Winners Alex & Sierra

It can be argued that Alex & Sierra are the most deserving winners of any reality television competition series this year.

The little couple that could managed to build momentum with every performance, starting with their audition cover of Britney Spears’ “Toxic” and ending with full-scale domination on the iTunes charts with their version of “Say Something.”

To be honest, I was initially skeptical about their pair’s chances on the show, considering America’s penchant for glitz and glamour (and considering how Alex & Sierra are anything but). With that said, their easy-listening style and perfect harmonization really made them the best singers on The X Factor this year and the result was them winning the title as The X Factor champions and scoring a million dollar recording contract with Sony Music.

While the result was never really in doubt, they faced still competition from Detroit rocker Jeff Gutt, who arguably had the best finale performance on Wednesday, leaving everything he had on the stage in an attempt to score the contract that he has been searching his entire life for.

On Thursday’s season finale, Alex & Sierra performed a group number with the rest of the Top 13 before offering their cover of “All I Want For Christmas Is You.” They also joined finalist Jeff Gutt for a trio take on “Love Me Again,” that proved that they were the right acts to decide the winner between.

While X Factor‘s younger demographic might not “get” Alex & Sierra yet, their numbers certainly don’t lie. Six of their X Factor performances landed on iTunes’ Top 100 Singles chart with their “ Say Something” and “Gravity” both hitting #1.

I caught up with the pair immediately after the final result was delivered and we discussed whether their simple staging every week resulted in their success, what their potential album might sound like, if anybody truly can win The X Factor and if they kissed after the result was read (as they promised they would on Wednesday).
