Welcome fight fans to Inside Fights’ live coverage of UFC Fight Night 34 from Marina Bay Sands in Marina Bay, Singapore in China. The event is headlined by a five-round welterweight bout between former Strikeforce Welterweight Champion Tarec Saffiedine and Korean knockout artist Hyun Gyu Lim. I’m Ryan Frederick and I’ll be handling the coverage of the event, which will be the first event to air on the brand-new digital network known as UFC Fight Pass.

Leandro Issa vs. Russell Doane

Referee: John Sharp

ROUND 1- A bantamweight bout between two men making their UFC debuts kicks things off. John Sharp is the referee for tonight’s opener. Issa starts with a leg kick as they trade punches. Another exchange and Issa scores on a takedown and is in the half-guard. Doane reverses and they get back to their feet. Issa misses a leg kick. Doane with a right hand and then another. Issa misses a takedown. Doane with a left hook and then a flying knee that just misses. Doane with an overhand right. Issa tries a takedown but Doane defends and lands punches but Issa finishes the takedown and gets into Doane’s guard. Doane is looking to sweep. Issa is trying to transition to side control but Doane is holding him in the half-guard. They are warned to get busy and Doane reverses and takes the back. Doane lands some punches and looks to lock in a choke. Doane still has the back and is landing punches. Issa rolls out and Doane gets to his feet and lands some strikes with Issa on the ground. Doane with a big right hand as he falls into the guard. Issa quickly throws up an attempt at a triangle choke and is looking to get it locked in tight. Issa with some elbows from the bottom. Doane fights out and picks Issa up and slams him down but Issa still has it locked in. Doane is still trying to escape. It is still locked in as Issa lands a punch from the bottom. Doane with body punches. Issa doesn’t get the submission as the round ends. 10-9 Issa.

ROUND 2- The first round was close as we head to the second. Doane is looking to land an overhand right as they trade feint punches. Doane lands the right hand and then a knee. Issa goes for a takedown but it is defended as they clinch against the fence. Doane has Issa against the fence and lands a knee and then body punches. They trade knees to the body. Issa has a body lock but they break to the center of the Octagon. Issa with a leg kick. Doane is looking to land that right hand. Doane misses a right hand. They trade punches and Issa lands a right hand and then a leg kick and then another. Doane misses a high front kick. Doane with a right hand and Issa briefly falls down. Issa tries a desperation takedown to no avail and Doane lands some more strikes. Issa recovers and fires back a right hand. Issa misses a takedown as Doane sprawls nicely. Doane lands two right hands and another against the fence. Doane with more right hands as Issa is surviving on missed takedowns. Doane with another right hand and then defends another takedown from Issa. Doane reverses a takedown and ends up in side control and is landing elbows. Issa is in a lot of trouble with under a minute left in the round. Doane has a half-crucifix and is landing elbows as he looks to lock in a kimura. Doane has the arm and Issa escapes but ends up in a triangle choke attempt from Doane. Issa is cut open and in the choke but survives as the round ends. No it’s over!! Issa is out cold from the choke as the horn sounds for the end of the round. Doane picks up the win!

Dustin Kimura vs. Jon Delos Reyes

Referee: Steve Perceval

ROUND 1- Kimura is looking to bounce back from his first loss as he welcomes Reyes to the UFC. Steve Perceval is the referee. They trade punches right off the bat. Reyes with a nice combination. Kimura with a leg kick but he is dropped by a right hand from Reyes. They scramble to the ground and Reyes is landing punches from the top but Kimura is looking for a heel hook. Reyes continues to land from the top and then drops a big right hand. Kimura is looking to lock up an arm but Reyes transitions out but Kimura still has the arm. Reyes escapes. Reyes with more punches from the top as Kimura can’t get off of his back. Reyes falls into the guard of Kimura and Kimura grabs the arm and locks in the armbar. Reyes taps out! Kimura with the submission win and the crowd approves.

Mairbek Taisumov vs. Tae Hyun Bang

ROUND 1- Both men are debuting in the UFC on the undercard here. Leon Roberts is the referee. Taisumov is looking to land the right hand early as Bang holds his hands low. Taisumov with a leg kick. Taisumov with a head kick. Taisumov with a leg kick and then a straight right hand. Taisumov misses on a combo but lands a leg kick. Taisumov with a body kick. Bang with a left hand. Bang with a leg kick and Taisumov lands one in response. Bang forces Taisumov against the fence with a left hand. Taisumov comes back with some kicks to the legs and body. Taisumov lands a big left hook that stuns Bang. Taisumov briefly drops Bang with a right hand but Bang gets right back up. Taisumov with a head kick and then a combo. Bang with a flying knee and Taisumov is cut on the bridge of the nose. Taisumov with a leg kick and they tie up for a moment. Bang with a combo against the fence but Taisumov comes back with a leg kick. Taisumov lands a big right hand as Bang tried a flying knee. Bang paid for that but his chin held up. Taisumov with a teet kick to end the round. 10-9 Taisumov.

ROUND 2- Bang is holding his hands up higher now. Taisumov misses a big head kick. Taisumov is looking to land the right hand but kicks the body. Taisumov with a head kick that is checked. Taisumov with the teet kick. Taisumov with a head kick and then gets a takedown and lands some punches from a standing position. Bang quickly gets up. Taisumov with a leg kick. Bang lands an inside leg kick and then a front kick. Taisumov with a front kick and then a big right hand. Taisumov with a leg kick. Taisumov misses a big right hand. Not a lot of action going on this round. Bang misses a front kick and checks a head kick from Taisumov. Bang with a right hand. Taisumov with a leg kick. Bang with an inside leg kick. They trade punches and Taisumov grabs the leg for a takedown but it is defended. The crowd is booing the relative lack of action. Taisumov with a body kick. The round ends with boos from the crowd. 10-9 Taisumov, 20-18 Taisumov.

ROUND 3- Bang may need a finish here. Taisumov with a big takedown and is in the guard and landing body punches. Taisumov pushes the fight against the fence and is landing shoulder strikes. Bang escapes to the feet and they are battling against the fence. Bang with a knee to the leg. Taisumov with some body punches and he slams Bang to the ground. Bang is trying to get out but Taisumov has the body lock. Bang tries to get up but it dragged right back down to the ground and Taisumov remains in the half-guard. Taisumov traps an arm and is landing some ground-and-pound. Bang is having a lot of trouble getting out of bad positions. Taisumov postures up and Bang pushes him off and they get back to their feet. Taisumov with a big leg kick. Taisumov misses a spinning back kick and Bang misses a right hand in counter. Bang attempts a flying knee to no avail. Taisumov lands a body punch as they tie up. Taisumov with a judo throw takedown and he gets into the guard of Bang. Taisumov gets up and lands a right hand from the top to close out the fight. Dominant performance from Taisumov. 10-9 Taisumov, 30-27 Taisumov.

Royston Wee vs. Dave Galera

Referee: John Sharp

ROUND 1- This is a big local fight as Wee is from Singapore. This bout was actually featured on the poster for this card. Both men are making their UFC debuts. John Sharp will oversee this bout. Galera with a leg kick to start and Wee immediately grabs him and slams him down to the mat. Wee is in the guard of Galera. Wee with some body punches inside the guard. Wee with more body punches and then some elbows from inside the guard. Galera is trying to push off but Wee is maintaining his position in the guard. Wee with more punches to the body. Galera sweeps and they get back to the feet for a moment but go back down with Wee in the half-guard. Wee goes back into full guard and lands some more body punches. Galera with some elbows from the bottom to the side of the head of Wee. Galera is active off of his back despite being on it most of the round. Wee with some elbows from the top as he still has the body lock on. Galera is cut open. Galera with some heel strikes but the round ends with him on bottom. 10-9 Wee.

ROUND 2- Galera opens with a body kick but Wee grabs the leg and scores the teakdown. Wee is in the half-guard. Galera is trying to sweep but it allows Wee to pass into side control. Wee moves back into the half-guard as he lands some punches from the top. Wee tries to transition back to side control but ends up in Galera’s full guard. Galera with some punches from the bottom. Wee goes back into half-guard and is trying to control the right arm of Galera. Wee with some body punches. Galera attempts to grab an arm and locked in an arm lock but Wee moves back into the full guard. Galera with a punch from the bottom. Wee is coming with full pressure from the top but Galera is landing some elbows from the bottom. Wee is landing punches to the body from the top. Galera tries to scramble up to his feet but Wee is keeping him planted on the mat. Wee has a strong base and is back into the half-guard. Wee with some elbows from the top. Galera gets back to his feet but Wee has the body lock against the fence. Galera grabs the neck and Wee is going to try and drag this fight back down, which he does. Wee is in half-guard against the fence as we have ten seconds left. The round concludes and it belongs to Wee again. 10-9 Wee, 20-18 Wee.

ROUND 3- Galera likely needs a finish here. Galera looks to attack with kicks to start the final round. Galera with a nice combination and lands a nice right hand. Galera with a leg kick and then lands a big knee as Wee went for a takedown. Galera presses forward but Wee grabs him and plants him on his back. Wee is in the guard. Galera tries to push him off but Wee goes right back into the guard. Wee has the body locked on the mat. Galera tries to roll out and it may allow Wee to take the back. Wee with some body punches. Both men are tired and not nearly as active in this final round. Both men are landing soft punches on the ground. Galera lands an illegal upkick on Wee and the action is momentarily stopped. It was an obvious illegal strike. The crowd is booing Galera. John Sharp takes a point from Galera so he definitely needs a finish now. They resume action back on the ground with Wee in the guard of Galera. Galera with an elbow from the bottom and gets to his feet. Wee has the body lock against the fence. Wee picks him up and slams Galera down to the mat. Wee has the body lock still but Galera grabs an arm and looks for a straight armbar but Wee gets his arm free. Wee with some body punches. Wee with more punches from the half-guard. Wee finishes with more top punches. 10-8 Wee, 30-26 Wee.

Katsunori Kikuno vs. Quinn Mulhern

Referee: Steve Perceval

ROUND 1- Kikuno is making his UFC debut while Mulhern looks to bounce back from a loss in his UFC debut. Steve Perceval is the referee. Mulhern is looking to land the head kick as Kikuno has his lands low. They trade punches and Kikuno lands a nice left hook. Mulhern looks for a head kick. Mulhern lands a right hand and goes for a takedown but pulls guard and has Kikuno in his guard. Mulhern is looking to set up a triangle choke but Kikuno is avoiding it and landing punches from the top. Mulhern is using the rubber guard to control the shoulder of Kikuno. Kikuno gets out of the guard and they get to their feet. Kikuno lands a left hand and then a short uppercut. Kikuno with a body kick. Mulhern shoots for a takedown but can’t even come close to getting it. Both miss on front body kicks. Kikuno with a left hand. Mulhern goes for the takedown but ends up on his back and has Kikuno in his guard. Kikuno escapes to his feet. Nice combinations from both men. Mulhern with a body kick. Mulhern with a high kick. Mulhern misses a head kick but lands a leg kick. Mulhern goes for another takedown but again pulls guard. Kikuno is in the half-guard and has a lock of Kikuno as the round ends. 10-9 Mulhern.

ROUND 2- Mulhern comes out with a front kick. Mulhern with a body kick and falls down and Kikuno goes into his half-guard. Mulhern is looking to sweep with the butterfly guard. Kikuno sees that and they get to their feet. Mulhern lands a right hand and pulls guard yet again against the fence. Kikuno with some right hands from the top position. They get back to their feet. Kikuno lands a stiff combination. Mulhern again misses a takedown and Kikuno is back in the half-guard. Kikuno with body punches. Kikuno with more punches from the top as Mulhern tries to work from his guard. Mulhern looking to work with the rubber guard. Not a lot of action going on. Kikuno with body punches from the top. Mulhern looks to sweep and reverse but they stand up. Mulhern misses some punches. They both land punches. Mulhern with a leg kick. Kikuno lands a solid left hand. Mulhern with a leg kick. Kikuno lands a knee as Mulhern shoots in for the takedown. Kikuno with a nice sprawl and Mulhern again pulls guard. Not sure what Mulhern’s strategy is here. Kikuno in the guard and lands a punch to end the round. 10-9 Kikuno, 19-19.

ROUND 3- They come to the center and Mulhern again pulls guard and they battle against the fence. Kikuno with some hammerfists from inside the guard of Mulhern. Kikuno passes into side control and Mulhern is hanging on from the bottom. Mulhern escapes and they are back up. Kikuno with a body kick and punches and Mulhern again pulls the guard. Kikuno back into half-guard. Both men land short punches on the ground. Not a lot of action going on and they are warned to work. The referee orders them to stand up. Mulhern is having vision problems. Kikuno with a right hand as he switches stances. Mulhern goes for a telegraphed takedown and Mulhern wanted to pull guard again but Kikuno backs away. Mulhern misses a spin kick and then eats a body kick from Kikuno. Kikuno gets the body lock against the cage and is looking to take this fight down. Kikuno gets a weak takedown and into the guard of Mulhern. They ride the fight out in the guard. 10-9 Kikuno, 29-28 Kikuno.

Max Holloway vs. Will Chope

ROUND 1- Holloway has the most UFC experience of any fighter on the card. These are two tall 145-pound fighters as Holloway is 5’11” and Chope is 6’4″. Chope is making his UFC debut. Leon Roberts is the referee. Chope goes for a clinch early. Holloway tries a spin attack to no luck. Chope lands a short uppercut and then a leg kick. Chope with a leg kick and Holloway misses another spin kick attempt. Chope with a short leg kick. They clinch for a moment but break. Chope looks to establish the jab. Chope with a quick combo. Chope with a teet kick. Chope misses a right hand and they clinch. Chope lands a knee on the break. Holloway backs Chope up with a right hand. Holloway lands a nice inside combination. Chope with a combo. Chope misses a head kick. Holloway with a right hand and then he circles away. They clinch and Holloway lands a knee to the body. Holloway with a short left hand. Holloway lands a nice combo and then a spinning back kick. Holloway is opening up and landing some solid punches. Holloway with some big right hands that stun Chope. They trade and Chope is swinging wildly. Holloway with a solid left hook. Chope tries a tie up against the fence. Holloway with a knee to the body and escapes. Holloway lands a solid combo and tees off on Chope at the end and lands a big knee and big punches at the end. Chope dropped at one point and Holloway takes the round. 10-9 Holloway.

ROUND 2- Holloway with a side kick to the leg as both look to unload combinations. Holloway with a big right hand and then a knee and stuffs a takedown from Chope. Holloway lands punches on the ground but Chope fights to his feet. Holloway is teeing off on Chope and lands a spinning back kick to the body against the fence. Holloway with a big flurry. Chope is surviving but eating punches. Holloway with more punches against the fence. Chope changes levels for a takedown but Holloway is defending well against the fence. Chope has the body lock and the referee is warning them to work. They break and Holloway lands a combination. Body punches from Holloway drop Chope and Holloway tees off on the ground and Leon Roberts stops the fight! TKO win for Holloway.

Kyung Ho Kang vs. Shunichi Shimizu

Referee: Steve Perceval

ROUND 1- Kang fights for the third time in the UFC as he welcomes Shimizu to the UFC. Steve Perceval is the referee. Kang misses a leg kick to start his attack. Kang misses a big spinning head kick. Kang with a leg kick. Kang with an outside leg kick. Kang with a knee as Shimizu drops to the ground and is looking for the takedown but Kang defended it. Shimizu remains on the ground and Kang comes up and lands punches. Kang with big punches and drops down and locks in a mounted triangle choke. Kang has it on tight but Shimizu survives. Kang switches to the armbar but Shimizu is defending well. Kang is still looking for both the armbar and the triangle choke. Kang has the triangle choke locked in and is looking to grab the head and squeeze tight. Kang with some elbows from the bottom and still has the choke locked in. Kang mounts and lands an illegal 12-to-6 elbow and we have a break in the action. The referee is asking the doctor to check on Shimizu. The doctor clears him to continue. The referee has docked two points from Kang for the illegal strikes as he says they were deliberate. Kang misses a spinning kick. Shimizu tries to dropkick Kang’s legs but it doesn’t work. Shimizu pushes Kang against the fence but Kang scores the takedown. They get back to the feet. Kang with a leg kick but Shimizu lands one in return. Kang with a right hand and then an accidental kick to the groin and we have another break in the action. Back to action and Shimizu misses a spinning kick as the round ends. Kang won the round outright but the two-point deduction gives the round to Shimizu. 9-8 Shimizu.

ROUND 2- Kang has to win the final two rounds on points to win if he can’t get the finish despite winning the first round clearly. Kang with some kicks to start the round. Shimizu misses a leg kick. Shimizu with a body kick and Kang misses a leg kick. Kang with a quick combination. Shimizu goes for a takedown but eats some elbows from Kang. Kang with a big knee as Shimizu goes down and Kang is unloading with punches from the top. Shimizu is searching for the leg but Kang moves into full mount position. Kang with some short punches from the mount. Kang with some elbows and punches from the mount as Shimizu is unable to escape. Kang tries to posture up for some big punches and Shimizu has the body locked. Kang with some elbows from the top. More big elbows from Kang. Shimizu scrambles and reverses positions and is in the guard of Kang. Kang reverses positions and is back on top in the guard of Shimizu. Kang with some more ground-and-pound from the top. Kang gets to his feet and finishes the round off with some big punches. 10-9 Kang, 18-18.

ROUND 3- This round will decide the fight in all likelihood. Kang misses a head kick to start the round. Shimizu with a body kick. Shimizu drops for the takedown and gets it but Kang gets to the cage and uses it to get up. Kang gets a takedown and starts landing some big punches from the side. Kang is back into the guard of Shimizu and landing a lot of solid punches. Kang with a big right hand and then some elbows inside the guard. Kang with more big right hands from the top. Shimizu is holding on but is eating a lot of punches and elbows. Kang with some more big elbows from the top. Kang with some more ground-and-pound as Shimizu is trying to just hang on. Big right hand from Kang. Kang stands up and unloads with some more punches. Kang with some more ground-and-pound. Kang with more punches as Shimizu tries to scramble out but Kang uses his size to stay on top and then moves into full mount with ease. Kang is looking for a choke and locks in the arm-triangle. Shimizu taps out! Kang with the submission win. Impressive performance.

Kiichi Kunimoto vs. Luiz Dutra

Referee: John Sharp

ROUND 1- We have a welterweight bout between two men making their UFC debuts. Dutra is from TUF: Brazil 2. John Sharp is the official for this fight. Kunimoto is looking to land some punches and drops in for the takedown. They are tied up against the fence but break back into the center of the Octagon. Both men trade punches. Kunimoto with a leg kick. and Dutra counters with a right hand. They trade exchanges. Kunimoto goes for the takedown and Dutra lands a lot of elbows to the back of the head and Kunimoto goes down. Those were illegal elbows and Kunimoto may be finished. The doctors are checking on Kunimoto and the fight has been waved off as Kunimoto will be unable to continue. This looks to be a disqualification due to the illegal elbows.

Tatsuya Kawajiri vs. Sean Soriano

ROUND 1-Kawajiri is finally making his UFC debut as he takes on a debuting Soriano. Soriano with a leg kick and a knee as Kawajiri goes for the takedown. Soriano defends it. Kawajiri with some leg kicks and he goes for another takedown but can’t get it. Kawajiri is going aggressively to take this fight to the mat but Soriano is going for underhooks and lands a knee on the break. Kawajiri with a right hand and Soriano with a head kick. Soriano with a leg kick and Kawajiri drops for the takedown but it is defended well by Soriano. They are tied up against the fence and Kawajiri gets the takedown but they get up. Soriano lands some elbows but Kawajiri gets the fight back down. They get up but they fight goes back down as Kawajiri has Soriano’s back. Kawajiri looks to lock in a rear-naked choke as he has the body lock on Soriano. Soriano gets out but Kawajiri is still looking for the choke as Soriano tries to escape. Soriano tries to roll out but rolls back to his back and Kawajiri moves to punching Soriano from the top. Kawajiri still has the back mount and is landing punches from the back. Kawajiri with more punches and is looking to finish but the round ends before he can. 10-9 Kawajiri.

ROUND 2- Soriano with a big knee and Kawajiri grabs the body lock. Soriano escapes and clinches up but they move to a battle against the fence. Kawajiri scores the takedown and takes the back. Kawajiri locks in the rear-naked choke and has it in very deep. Soriano is out cold! Choked unconscious. Kawajiri with the big submission win in his UFC debut. Soriano actually tapped but the referee missed it. Still, a win for Kawajiri nonetheless.

ROUND 1- Time for the main event on the night. It is five rounds. Saffiedine is making his UFC debut. Lim steps in as a replacement for Jake Ellenberger. Leon Roberts is the referee. Lim is a huge welterweight. Saffiedine with a body kick. Lim with a big knee to the body. Lim with a leg kick as Saffiedine continues to switch stances. Saffiedine with leg kicks. Saffiedine with another leg kick. Lim with a body kick. Lim with a knee to the body and drops Saffiedine with a right hand. Lim goes to the ground and ends on top and looks to land. Saffiedine scrambles to his feet. Saffiedine with an inside leg kick. Saffiedine with a right hand but misses a leg kick. They trade punches in close range. Lim fighting cautiously right now. Lim with a body punch. Saffiedine misses a right hand and Lim lands a big right hand and a knee. Saffiedine slips down but gets up and eats a straight right hand. Saffiedine with a body kick. Saffiedine with the jab. Lim misses a front kick. Saffiedine with a leg kick. Saffiedine with a leg kick to end the round. Close round. 10-9 Lim.

ROUND 2- Saffiedine quickly comes to the center of the Octagon and is looking to establish the jab. Lim looks for a combination to the body. Saffiedine with a front kick. Lim with a right hand and Saffiedine misses a big overhand right. Saffiedine with the inside leg kick. They trade in a wild exchange and Saffiedine lands some big right hands that stun Lim. Lim has recovered but Saffiedine is opening up on him. Saffiedine with a right hand and a leg kick. Saffiedine with a nice combo ending with a leg kick. Saffiedine lands another big right hand. Lim misses a flying knee. They trade and Saffiedine is getting the better of the exchanges. Saffiedine with a leg kick. Saffiedine feints and lands a leg kick. Saffiedine with a right hand and Lim misses a counter combination. Saffiedine working on some more inside leg kicks and then a combo with an attack on the body. Saffiedine with more inside leg kicks. Saffiedine with a solid straight right hand. Saffiedine with more kicks to the lead left leg of Lim. Saffiedine misses a left hook and Lim lands some punches. ROUND 3- Saffiedine with a head kick. Lim with a leg kick. Saffiedine drops Lim with a big right hand that drops Lim. Lim gets back up but is rocked by a head kick from Saffiedine. Saffiedine gets a takedown and is on top but Lim grabs the leg and is looking for an ankle lock. Saffiedine escapes and takes the back of Lim. Lim wiggles out and they get back to their feet. Both looking for an opening. Saffiedine with a leg kick and then drops Lim with a leg kick. Lim looks for the upkick but Saffiedine falls into the half-guard of Lim. Lim is landing short punches from the bottom but Saffiedine is looking to move into side control. Both landing short shots on the ground. Saffiedine is still trying to transition into side control. Saffiedine with some big elbows from the top. Saffiedine is still having trouble getting out of half-guard and they are stood up by Leon Roberts. ROUND 4- Lim’s leg is in a lot of trouble but he continues to fight. Lim coming out with a big flurry of punches and Saffiedine is attacking with kicks. Saffiedine with a flying knee that crumbles Lim and Saffiedine goes on top. Saffiedine should really get to his feet and let Lim up and attack from the feet. Saffiedine is looking to transition to the back as he lands from the top. Lim escapes but ends up being mounted. Saffiedine lands a punch to the back of the head and is looking for the arm-triangle choke. Lim defends and escapes and Saffiedine lands more punches from the top. Saffiedine with a right hand and a leg kick. Lim with a solid combination and lands some knees. Lim with a combo and he pushes forward. Saffiedine is countering well. They trade punches and Lim lands a big knee. Lim is getting a second win. Lim lands a combo but Saffiedine halts him with two leg kicks. Lim with a right hook. Saffiedine misses the leg kick. Saffiedine now attacking the right leg, which Lim is now leading with. Lim switches stances and Saffiedine lands a right hand. Saffiedine with the leg kick. Lim with a knee to the body. Saffiedine with a right hand but can’t find an opening for the knee. Saffiedine with some right hands and Lim counters with his own. Saffiedine with another leg kick and Lim goes down. Saffiedine lets him get right back up. Saffiedine with a right hand. Saffiedine with a head kick and fails on a takedown. Lim lets out a big scream. Saffiedine with more punches. Lim misses a right hand and Saffiedine with a body kick. Lim lands a solid combination. Lim with a knee to the body but Saffiedine lands a leg kick. Lim rocks Saffiedine big time and Saffiedine is in a lot of trouble but the fight ends before Lim could try to finish. 10-9 Saffiedine, 49-46 Saffiedine.
